Fallout 3 DLC was very hit and miss which in the end just felt like these extra goofy side adventures. Broken Steel changed that up but, as Jeff said is the case most of the time, when it came around most people had moved on.

New Vegas for all the cut content and glitches, the DLC was great and leagues ahead of 3 as it featured an over-arching story and then added extra story points/details for the base game. In short I just hope Bethesda have took notes from Obsidian's New Vegas on what really worked.

Looking forward to see how the Witcher 3 handles its proper paid expansions.

@mystyr_e: I think Austin is that guy so perhaps you will hear about all that stuff on the Beastcast. The Bombcast is the blue collar podcast for "normal guys" that play "normal guy games."

@mystyr_e: Yeah if I could listen to only one podcast a week it'd be East, not just because they keep up to date on gaming news from Japan which is a larger player than before in game development, but gaming in general, while still being delightful pesonalities and bringing up off-topic stuff.

This like Humanity says "normal guys" with "normal guy games", and I add to that: "in a more and more boring way that affects it negatively".

Great episode. I was excited by some things that came out of TGS, but that's the kind of stuff the Bombcast has never cared about so it's not surprising that they didn't care much for it.

Didn't have a really big overhaul patch for Hellgate in testing around the time it got shut down?

Also, I think Destiny gets at least a little better if you are interested in the PvP, since that's a bunch of extra stuff you can do to get rewards.

@mystyr_e: Yeah. I felt that TGS had a pretty good line up. I'm super excited for Nioh, Star Ocean, Person 5, 13 Sentinels and others. Also the email about Japanese devs getting back on their feet seems a bit odd to me. Japanese devs never really lost it, the western media just stopped following and discounted their projects.

Everytime that Dan shits on anime I remember him talking about wrestling and I can't help but laugh.

I think the Petaluma Chicken that guy's friends were referring to was probably this famously bizarre promo film from the 1930s. Rifftrax did a commentary to go with it over on their site.

I live on the east coast and I've only ever heard caddy corner. Catty corner is also an accepted spelling. Kitty corner might be more a west coast thing, I don't know. According to Google, "cater" corner is also one. And Dan is just completely wrong, as usual.

The sad reality about Drew's Mario Maker level is that most people probably just think "oh this guy fucked up making this" rather than the fact that it's a parody.

I'm one of those people that liked Assassin's Creed 3. And I played it way after the fact, so I went in with full knowledge of how much that game is disliked. Still enjoyed it rather thoroughly. The setting of the Revolutionary War was just so much fun for me. I've liked all the AC games I've played. Revelations was definitely the worst, but it wasn't that bad. Have yet to play AC4; it's sitting on my Steam account, but backlog and all that. Since that one is seen as a good one, I'm sure I'll absolutely love it since I have liked all of them. I'll get Unity way down the road when it's cheap, most likely. I have yet to pay over $7.50 for any AC game.

As someone who used to have a passing interest in wrestling and whose brother is still very much into wrestling so I hear it from time to time, I am totally on board with the occasional wrestling story like the one here. They're pretty great sometimes. As long as it isn't incredibly frequent.

Thankfully the reason austin's there is so people stop complaining about the bombcast not shoehorning in a false love/interest of japanese games. I honestly have no idea why people expect them to care. And jeff obviously cares about persona 5; he just doesn't fanboy out about things like others do. Not sure why that makes him boring but w/e.

Haven't listened yet, but I hope that picture means they're going to talk about that time Nielsen was looking for the Undertaker, which led to Undertaker delivering a pizza to him, including Undertaker ringing the doorbell and saying "PEEEEET--ZZUUUUUHHHH."

Geez, just say you thought a thing was lukewarm and you've got people coming in going "no, you're wrong!" and taking down the easy targets.

Like, I dunno. Just like how not everyone is into shooters and sports games, not everyone is going to be into RPGs and such. I'd much rather they talk earnestly about stuff, even if it means they're less than thrilled about things like TGS (especially now that we have the Beastcast where they talk enthusiastically about Eastern things). They're not lesser people for it.

Being from Texas, I hear this a lot. although there are different ways to say it, they all mean the same thing. I've said it as catacorner.

catacorner - slanted across a polygon on a diagonal line.

Or a better one would be

slanting or inclined in direction or course or position--neither parallel nor perpendicular nor right-angled

There are legit cool and good games shown this year but I don't know how anyone is excited about Gravity Rush. It had a cool visual style and a likable protagonist but the controls were garbage and it ran terribly on the Vita. I guess those are two things you could sort out in a console sequel but you'd still be stuck with the boring gameplay.

Animal Crossing - Dan you were correct "perhaps I am not the correct demographic". I kind of think this is the first sign of you guys might be out of touch with age? You are 30, and this game is not made for all 30 year old guys. And that's fine because this website is all people our age (not 5 year old kids mainly).
But its odd you cant see some gamers would be into the easier version? *Vinnie possesses this perspective because he can see it through his kids eyes now. -- i see this game through my 6 year old niece's eyes...

Animal Crossing is one of those games that everyone can like. but its great for kids. For us 30 year olds', we can just play new leaf and be like "that's cute, barely a game (everyone says it). This is like an "easy expansion" of New Leaf. Or "New Leaf kids!". And my 6 year old niece cant freaking wait for it. Animal Crossing and pokemon are her 2 favorite games, and she is kind of bad at Animal Crossing. Making bells, and learning all the times for certain things - she can do it, but she has a 6 year olds' outlook. Her town looks like Dan's town. Its why kids don't pick out their own clothes. She just wants to dress up and decorate things. BING! this game. So this is Animal Crossing for kids.

So weird how different opinions are...for 2015 I can think of maybe three games for my GOTY list (MGS V, Mario Maker, Bloodborne) but apart from those it's going to be hard to cull it together. And I buy almost everything good. Last year was a super awesome Wii U year so that filled out most of it.

@xshinobi: If you listen to the bombcast when the 8-4 Play guys were in town, they paint a very dark picture of Japanese game devs all doing cheap mobile games and few of the old guard even being in games at all.

Outside of Nintendo, you have very few Japanese studios that make anything but sequels and places like Konami are getting out of development altogether. Having a few massive hits per year isn't the Japan most people grew up with.

I think it is time for a new format to the Bombcast. It sounds like everyone is a bit weary and tired.

They have new equipment, they will soon have a new place to record it seems...so why not a refresh of the format. To be honest, its seems like a shame that Gamespot has all that talent somewhere in the building and we only get Danny on mic for DAnswers and Alt F1.

Is Alexa Ray in the building near the same floor? How about Mary Kish, she must be in the office? Hell, is Lucy James from the UK site available via Skype when you record?

Looks to me like catty-corner is a southern regionalism that spread a bit. And since the South lost the war, kitty-corner it is.

I feel suckered into this discussion...

At the very end of the podcast, Dan talked about Kane on WWE Raw having a split personality or a magical mask that turns him into a different person. That would be a cool thing I'd be fully behind, but the real angle was that he was just saying all that shit to string along/mess with Seth and the Helmsleys.

No, I mean instead of Brad, Jeff, Drew, and Dan all having to assemble -who MIGHT BE busy - bring on some new blood sometimes from the Gamespot staff. They are not doing GS podcast they are doing their podcast with fresh people....I figured that was too obvious to have to spell out

Every time Dan talks about weird wrestling bullshit I have to remind myself that the weird Star Wars bullshit I talk about probably sounds just as ridiculous to people on the outside. I want to viciously mock that multiple Undertakers stuff as the height of stupidity but then I remember that Darth Maul is alive again.

@monkeyking1969: I understood what you meant, I was just being a bit unclear in my answer: what I meant was that the GS staff are probably generally too busy to guest on the Bombcast. There's a reason they don't do a podcast and that's because it's not a priority. Most of what Danny does for the site he more or less does in his free time.

@soundlug: Ummm yup, just said she plays New Leaf which they established is more complicated than Happy Home Designer, but you miss the point. (Also many of those touch iphone games they play are actually NOT more complicated...). As i said she is kind of bad at New Leaf even though she loves it. So she gets 80% of the game. THIS game she will get 100%. Its made for her level, she will be able to everything on her own no issues. Plus -- no sexism -- but just looking at IGN and youtube reviews, lots of girls seem to be into this game already.
I played all sorts of hard games as a kid, but i didn't "master" them. i couldn't get past most Punch Out enemies till i was older, if they made an easier version i could have beat when i was 6? i would have loved it.

My niece is pretty good at Nintendogs and Pokemon. But Kirby' Epic Yarn is "too easy" for me and she has had me play a couple of boards for her she couldn't get past (boss fights). Same with the DS Princess Peach game, i thought it was easier than Mario - but she has needed help/at least be shown how to beat some parts. Some games she cant get past first board but plays it over and over (I remember those days Ninja Gaiden and Rygar!). She will play the hell out of this, then graduate and move on. She likes to decorate and will take it seriously unlike Dan.
