Well he wasn't that big back then. You still had other characters in the spotlight. It seems in 2 and 3 he was like the only one that got any spotlight and it usually was either crying or them mentioning something that sounds like it should be included. Think of it, they constantly praise him as being this really good jedi knight yet we never ever see it.

Dan: "I never had butter on bread till I was 25".

I... I just... it burns, it burns so bad. How is Dan not an alien. He has to be, he crash landed here, bumped his head, forgot why he came, shape shifted in to human form and got stuck that way. Its the only logical explanation.

I used to live in Wausau, and the Twin Cities, so it's always surreal to hear about Jason's experiences up here in the frozen wasteland.

Dan, calling anything the "skeezy Branson" is ridiculous because Branson is the skeeziest town. I hate living in the same state as that place.

@humanity: I think he does. The difference is he got his knowledge naturally growing up with the games, rather than having to make a deliberate choice to play games before his time just to be knowledgeable of it.

While that is true, he was still just a part of it where in the other movies he was basically the end all be all.

Who the hell is Jeff talking to that is saying "guys the prequels aren't that bad"? I literally don't know anyone saying that.

I am going to give you a hint. Star Wars is for kids. Go ask a kid if they enjoy the silly action movies and you can get they will say yes.

People are just overthinking this whole thing because the news has gone nuts about it. Star Wars isn't for kids, but it's a series that kids can enjoy. Star Wars isn't Citizen Kane either. Star Wars is a fun sci-fi series with memorable characters and some cool ideas. Thats it. People just like it because it's fun. The entire thread on our very own forums where people are dissecting Episode 7 with a fine scalpel, trying to explain why they didn't like it as much as they could is a little nuts. It's not that serious - it was a fun action movie, just enjoy it. Or you know, don't it's your choice - just realize that this was never high class cinema so there is no point in over analyzing it like it is. Also don't be one of those people (not you specifically) that feel the need to talk smack about it simply because it's the popular thing right now.

I will totally back Jeff up on Bubsy 2 and, of course, Bubsy 3D in terms of them being absolute trash, but where's his dislike of Bubsy 1 come from? It was a perfectly fine mario-copycat platformer, with colorful levels, good music, and a fairly unique 90's cartoon character. I know Jeff's big gripe seems to be the controls, but...the game controlled perfectly fine in terms of air control and general movement.

I really disliked how Dan kept on brushing off Destiny's recent microtransactions with the old argument of "If you don't like them don't buy them". Jeff is right to point these out not only because the actual transactions are ridiculous but these types of decisions from Bungie and Activision point to their future focus of Destiny. Instead of large expansions they would much rather create useless events wrapped around a bunch of cosmetic and level boosting paid items.

Lots of child characters in movies are Mary Sues, because audiences don't like seeing a little kid get their arm chopped off by a lightsaber or whatever. It happens. Anakin in Episode 1 was basically a typical child character in movies. He's not amazing, but whatever, he's par for the course. He's not even that central of a character, given how much of the important events revolve more around Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Padme.

Adult Anakin in Episode 2 and 3 is completely insufferable. The movie fixates on him any time it isn't off showing the side adventures of Obi-Wan. He's written as a selfish entitled prick, and based on his actions it's baffling that Obi-Wan ever had any reverence for him to tell Luke about in Episode 4. He isn't this great man who fell to the Dark Side, he was this sniveling brat of a character who was never truly that important (just merely told he had the potential to be) and then got duped by Palpatine into doing some evil shit, then thought "Welp, guess there is no going back." The entire character arc, and the part, as written, of Anakin, is completely retarded in Episode 2 and 3.

To be fair, I think once Jeff brings up that point, Dan concedes his point. In a lot of games, Dan's basic argument is sound, in that microtransactions for cosmetic DLC or XP/money boosts don't make the game worse for players who don't pay for those microtransactions. Destiny is a weird case where they're basically cutting off development of major new expansions in favour of these microtransactions elements that merely fund little minor events throughout the year, and Bungie has publicly admitted this, and that's the crazy part of all this that people are critical of. Technically, the cosmetic DLC and level boosts themselves still don't make the game worse for other players, but you can look at the general state of Destiny now and say "OK, they've basically given up on actually improving Destiny 1 any more than they have with The Taken King, so this is all you're getting. Look forward to paying for Destiny 2!"

I guess it's more that Jeff and Dan were coming at it from different directions, where Dan thought Jeff was saying "Booo, microtransactions in a game where you already have to pay for a bunch of expansions" but Jeff was saying "No, look, the entire state of Destiny is basically pretty sad right now because nothing else significant is going to come out in the next year, and the shitty consolation prize is microtransactions."

To be fair, Anakin is fleshed out a lot more in the Clone Wars TV show and is actually a fairly decent character, and I'm glad that series is still considered canon. Otherwise his backstory would be laughable.

Bummers about the Powerbombcast talk, sometimes wonder if I love it more than the Bombcast. But if they don't wanna do it, they shouldn't do it. Having them do a half hearted PBC would be worse than no PBC. Besides I still have all the old episodes to entertain me.

@danryckert I don't know what movie theater you worked at that played so fast and loose with food rules, but at the one I worked at that sort of shit would never fly. We routinely stopped people who we knew were bringing in food and told them that they would need to relinquish it, toss it, or remove themselves from the theater. If they refused, we called the cops on the grounds that they weren't welcome on the property and refused to leave.

edit: Granted the one I worked at maybe cared TOO much about people bringing food in, since calling the police seems like an extreme solution. But still, no theater I've ever been do has been particularly lax about that.

It always baffles me to hear people speak so highly of the Xbox One controller, especially in comparison to its direct predecessor. Everything about it just feels too soft. The sticks are smaller for some bizarre reason and seem a lot floatier, which would be a problem except the dead zone feels massive. The bumpers don't have a good click to them, which comes by way of them being designed to be "rolled-up" on by your fingers. And maybe its the way I hold my controllers, but it always feels like it's going to slip out of my hand. The palm grips are so angular and the weight is so far back that I always feel as if I'm fighting gravity with it.

Having both a DS4 and an Xbox One controller, I always side with the DS4 if I can help it. The DS4 made such insane leaps in the quality over the DS3 (which is the single worst controller I've ever used), but the Xbox One controller feels like change just for the sake of change. They could have just slapped a 360 receiver inside the Xbox One and called it a day.

I realise it's all opinions and that, but holy cow, I do not care for the Xbox One controller.

At the beginning where Dan says no one will stop you for brining in snacks and stuff to a theatre, that is TOtally not true. I am from Lawrence Kansas, about 30 minutes from where dan grew up and I once went to the movie theatre in Lawrence with a lady, and they checked her purse with a security guard, and it was clear it was to check for snacks [not weapons and such], after you give them your ticket.

Only had that happen sometimes, and that theatre sucks anyway [The Kansas City Theatres are much better], but I was honestly shocked. We didn't bring in snacks but I was actually a bit mad about that.

@existence: Your comment reminds me of something related but not specific to Giantbomb is the constant use of the 'it's not perfect' prefix in reviews as some sort of dismissive catch-all acknowledgement of any flaws without actually exploring and evaluating those flaws. Maybe it's just me, but I've seem to pick this weird (and mildly annoying imo) quip more and more in reviews and opinions.

Actually, this is a bit upsetting to me.

I have both an Xbox One and a PS4 controller on my computer, and yeah I really prefer the PS4. but you may have to mess with drivers and whatnot.

It is a real shame, because man that PS4 controller is such nicer quality than my xbox one controller. The build quality alone just feels so much better to me, plus there are those extra things you can do with it. Xbox One does work great though, but it really is a shame that the PS4 controller isn't strictly plug and play, cause that is really a much nicer controller.

I think that new xbox controller looks cool, but yeah I honestly can't justify that cost. Even so, I still think I would prefer my PS4 controller. I love the idea of the buttons on the bottom, but I just can't justify that price for that.... This is coming from someone who would use it on a PC [assuming it works on one?]

Controllers were already far more than I wanted to spend [well, get a game, or a controller for the same price just never made enough sense to me economically, I almost every case just wanted another game!!], and that is even more.

As someone who grew up in Wales, the kid who looks up to Dan email made me genuinely, none ironically, sad. Seriously.
