I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed Horizon: Zero Dawn much more then Zelda: BotW. Both are absolutely amazing games. The number of great games this year has been superb.

@javienn: There are quite a lot of us in that camp, the Zelda fans just seem to be more vocal, which is understandable given how established that series is with a huge fan base who've been waiting a long time to get that experience. We're still likely the minority, but I'd imagine it's not as small as it seems.

After watching both Zelda and Horizon being played extensively and playing some myself I can clearly say Zelda is better IMO. Horizon got so boring after 8-10 hours, the combat bored me to death and felt rinse and repeat-ish. The graphics are miles ahead in Horizon and world building too but Zelda just feels better on the whole. Horizon feels like a new studio doing the Ubisoft Farcry formula to a "t" where as Zelda feels like a fresh take on the same formula.

Having played a ridiculous amount of Zelda and Horizon, I'd say Zelda's world, while not particularly interesting in and of itself, was more fun to just explore, but Horizon had far more interesting and varied combat and lore. Also Horizon may well be the best looking game I've ever played. Both games are probably tied for my top spot of the year.

@nagafen: San Francisco has a huge homeless population and very few public bathrooms. Mix in mental illness and you get human poop on sidewalks.

Finally, Horizon getting some more recognition from the crew! I felt it got a little short changed (Jeff's glowing review notwithstanding of course) due to Zelda being released nearly at the same time.

Can't say this enough- the writing in this game really *is* extremely good. Intelligent, super well executed, dialogue is really good and even the side quests are well developed. A far cry from Far Cry's (...sorry) cookie cutter approach to side quest writing.

Also love the sense of melancholy for all that was lost as well as the optimism (we'll rebuild even after disaster) in the script. Really can't remember the last time a game made me feel this way.

I feel I am the only person who doesn't like Horizon Zero Dawn. I know its a very well made game but I just do not enjoy the game at all. The world doesn't feel all that open to me, I hate that you aggro everything all the fucking time. The story is good though.

Thanks Ben.

I haven't played it so I maybe I'm not really the best person to talk about it but, from everything I've seen about that game, I have zero interest on playing it so maybe I wouldn't like it either.

I put twenty odd hours into Zelda, before the sheer repetitiveness of it all did for me. Still, those twenty hours were a lot of fun. Still have Zero Dawn to go back to. Much like a bunch of people it seems, I did the first couple of hours before getting sidetracked by Zelda. Looking forward to getting back to it.

Glad I got to experience Hitman in an episodic form while it lasted. Hope other games try this experiment as well if it suits their property and game systems.

Horizon is a phenomenal game. I bought PS4 just to play it, then platinum trophied it after 80 hours. I haven't enjoyed a video game more for the last 5 or 6 years. I haven't played Zelda yet though so perhaps that's even better?

Unpopular opinion: I'd rather watch Batman V Superman over like Age of Ultron any day of the week. It's not a great movie by any means but I find the candy coated nature of most Marvel movies extremely dull and low stake.

Also I'm glad Rorie is enjoying Horizon so much, but pretty much all side content in that game is absolutely lackluster from the writing, the stiff NPC character animation to the quest structure itself which is basically always the exact same thing.

Main storyline is pretty good but everything beyond that, and specifically the sci-fi elements of it, literally drag the game down.

I think an ice cream trucks might be cool on teh outside....but there are so many laws and even giving wrapped confections away for free sets you up for lawsuits.

I would just do something cool for friends and family with the money.

That's definitely a San Francisco thing. I don't think I've seen human shit on the ground in any other US city.

Farpoint is AMAZING if you can handle the normal turning, doest make me sick at all. If I could I'd play every fps with psvr and the aim controller, it works and feels really REALLY good. Too bad it made brad sick so quick. Only wish you could move just a tad quicker and would need to move around more. The game is clearly built with the assumption you wont be able to handle the 'proper fps controls' so everything always approaches from the front.

It seems really unhelpfull to me when so much assumptions get thrown around with vr. None of the stereotypical nonos in vr have managed to get me sick yet while all the stuff like dynamic fov masks and click-turning etc do get me feeling uncomfortable very quickly.

Why San Francisco in particular though? Is it because of burned out old homeless people from the hippie era? Maybe their equally messed up kids?

Brad, the Farpoint Bundle is $80, not $100, and with Best Buy's GCU or Amazon Prime, it's $64. A handful of games were announced to work with it with one of them already being out (Dick Wylde) and another (Brookhaven Experiment) gets an update for it in early June.

@pillclinton: I think it's much more likely to be a geographic issue rather than a cultural issue. San Francisco has one of the smallest footprints of any major U.S. city, which puts a strain on pretty much every aspect of civic infrastructure, including services for the homeless.

Stuff like this. Also things like the squatting laws there (which allow a lot). It is very legitimate though. It's not an exaggeration. An ex of mine lived there for a while in the poorer parts of the city and became too scared to go around at night after a while. As a woman she just felt extremely unsafe around junkies and stuff which are out there. She also worked at a Starbucks and had to deal with that at work too.

I also think that San Francisco might not do much to deal with it, which in comparison to the stories about what you used to happen in NY with homeless people getting taken out of the city and stuff, I wonder if that isn't just part of it (don't take that as an endorsement at all).

The city is dirty. I actually like some parts of the city a lot, especially on a visit, but as I have gotten to know it more it can really be a mess.

I pretty much thoroughly agree with Dan on the city.

I'm not sure where you are from but weather also is a simple but big factor. Since it isn't as cold at the worse you tend to see more homeless people around.
