The waiting part of Ni no Kuni 2 sounds like the realty part of Yakuza 0, in Yakuza I would just start all my timers running and listen to podcasts and sort of doze for a while, then cash in and start again. It's not bad at a certain point in some games, when you've played a while, and don't mind building up some resources before you head into the later game, and have some podcasts or something to hold your interest while the game doesn't require your attention.

Could do without the 4 panel split.

Whoa 4 panels for Far Cry 5. Will edit with additional analysis later.

Edit: It was a good experiment. I eventually got used to the 4 panel layout but don't feel that it works for this podcast and the room/table. Since they're sitting so close to each other, having the screen divided like that feels unnecessarily artificial. If there was some distance between all 4 of them, then it the framing would work better. Also, since it's not like each person is talking at the same time, the reaction or lack thereof is more distracting than useful.

It's always interesting hearing the duders talk about parenting stuff. Bakalar and Jason are totally on opposite ends of the spectrum regarding exposing their children to tech. Jeff is hung up on even letting his child look at a video game, and Jason is putting his kid in VR. Vinny needs to revive the dad cast.

it's really weird that Far Cry 5 made activity discovery more natural by removing towers, but made character progression less natural by rewarding you perk points for completing arbitrary objectives. These systems must have been designed by entirely different game design groups. I can't imagine someone went "lets have the player find out the location of activities by listening to random characters and paying attention to their surroundings. Upgrades? Have the player unlock the parachute by getting 10 kills with an SMG." It's so backwards! The perk points system is even less natural than the radio towers were.

Do yourselves a favor go to 1:52 in the video. It is where they are talking about how you would go about announcing a new borderlands. Watch the difference in Jeff's reactions to just thinking about Cl4p Trap and then the thought of Cl4p Trap making a Pickle Rick joke and getting shot. Personally, I laughed for a while. :)

No need to waste your time playing Bravo Team, Jeff, it is fucking pure TRASH. There was an interview with one of the devs recently, it's fascinating. It's a rushed pile of garbage and just riddled with bad direction and decisions. No one should pay for that game, no excuse for something that shitty to be released.

WipEout is absolutely amazing though. As is Statik and lots of other stuff. Moss and whatnot.

If you still want to play that game, know going in that it in no way reflects PSVR quality at all. the PSVR reddit was jam packed with spite and malice when that thing released.

So... who thinks GTA 6 will sell more than GTA 5? GTA 5 has sold so many copies it boggles my mind to think that GTA 6 could sell more copies, and yet it seems like GTA 6 will for sure sell just as well, if not more copies.

I didn´t know that it was a thing to be upset about them changing the Snake Pass Switch Icon but that is totally something I was annoyed by back when it happened. It´s good to have the old icon back.

I totally get your point here but this feels very much like making excuses for the game. These aren't meant to be idle games. If you've got to do something else to hold your attention then that feels like a failing on the game's part

@squidmanv1: Yakuza 0 was definitely not like that for me. I think they intend for you to do the real estate as you're going through the rest of the story, but I ended up mainlining it straight away and I still always had stuff to do between collections because that world is so dense with activities.

The panels are cool, but I’m not sure. It feels detatched. The fun of the video version is watching a bunch of ppl hang out and talk about video games. They dont even need to be in the same room now.

Wonder how much longer we'll have to hear Jeff be so overly dramatic about everything in FC5.

@larmer: I’m pretty sure the idea was “let’s encourage players to try a little bit of everything instead of sticking to just the bow for the entire game” which admittedly is a sound and logical point of view on paper. It’s better than having the player halt all forward progress because they have to go to an out of the way location and shoot 10 rare animals so their gun belt can carry 10 extra bullets. And I mean getting 10 flamethrower kills in a game filled to the brim with targets isn’t all that much to ask, especially since 90% of the game is centered around murder.

Just echoing that I'm not a fan of the 4 in 1 shot either. I really liked seeing the whole table interacting and the sign. It was a nice look.

I do like the discussion titles and articles in the video, though. Good job on trying some new things guys!

Giant Bomb: For All Your Dick Pill Needs

I can't believe there was PSVR talk but no mention of the brand new Wipeout VR update. It's here and it's fresh as fuck - a serious contender for the best thing on PSVR. Jeff reminded me I need to pick up Polybius though.

@axiomatiqq: Yeah, seemed like they flat out didn't know about it or perhaps they just don't care enough to bring it up. I had assumed they'd be doing another VRodeo for that because it's making a lot of noise in the PSVR space.

@pyide: Yep, I'm afraid that Sony kind of screwed Wipeout VR with a stealth release, even though it's got way more polish than the software that they bundle and promote the hell out of (Skyrim and GT). I hope word of mouth will do it justice, because the devs deserve serious props for doing a VR conversion so right.

I don't know if it's new this week, but THANK YOU for putting the name of the game they're talking about in the corner!

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a link or know which podcast the e-mailer was referring to on the history of the Phantom console?

I was a confirmed beta tester for the console and spent months and months hearing updates about how they were going to send us out a console to test before they released it and that never came to fruition. I even filled out documents that had to be sent via certified mail which lead me to believe I was right on the cusp of having one in my home. I was incredibly excited for the opportunity but it became more apparent as time went on that the thing was going to be a flop. We were also told we would receive a free lap board as a consolation for the system falling through but that also never showed up.

At any rate, I would love to hear this podcast! Help me out!
