Extremely excited for Scott Manley / Drew. The west coast crew kind of spoiled the fact that he was coming in something, though I don't remember what (maybe on a UPF or podcast they said something in the background, not sure).

Well it will be interesting to see Drew crunch some numbers but im wondering what Scotts role is gona be. Scott can probably rescue all 3 in a 20min mission if hes the one playing and help Drew rescue all 3 in one episode if hes only advising.

@super_machine: Dark side of moon is always dark side, Sun never hits it based on rotation (unless I'm missing your request of them)

I wish they would just time excelerate when they land on the dark side so they can see what the heck is going on.

I had to skip ahead to make sure I wouldn't have a heart attack at the end of this video. I, like Vinny, feel a tremendous weight lifted from my chest.

I cannot wait for the next episode.

@mjhealy: Scott Manley is a prominent Youtube Kerbal Space Program/Elite Dangerous/general space game guy and also an astronomer and also a Literal Rocket Scientist.

He's a lot of fun.

@robowitch: Yeah, they could have plunged much deeper into the atmosphere, I would've probably done thirty-some thousand and landed in one or two passes depending, they also left the moon in exactly the wrong direction; they were going the same direction the moon was moving so the moon's momentum got added to their own, that's how they briefly ended up on an escape trajectory. if they'd left the moon in the opposite direction they it would have had the opposite effect and dropped them into a much lower orbit around Kerbin

That was fun, gentlemen. I would expect no less from the G.B. Space Program.

OH SHIT SCOTT MANLEY IS IN THE HOUSE!! This is like a bunch of little league tee-ball players getting Babe Goddamn Ruth to come play on their team. This man is the single greatest KSP player in the world, and has actual knowledge of astrophysics, orbital mechanics, etc. to back up every decision he makes.

Scott Manley is so hardcore that he doesn't just play on career mode, he even plays using the realism overhaul + scale mod (meaning 10x scale Kerbin / Kerbal System and distances associated, your rocket tech is limited by the time period it comes from, and rocket parts take actual time to put together after you finish in the assembly facility.).

Rescuing them will be a cake walk for Master Manley.

I can't wait to see what the next episode holds!

These episodes continue to be amazing from start to finish.

Also, holy snap --

Austin brought some seriously hot science towards the end there.

A Lunar day is roughly 29 1/2 Earth days.

There is no "Dark Side of the Moon", it's tidally locked with the Earth, not the Sun.

That's why they call him Austin "The Aerobreaker" Walker.

On that note, is this the best way to go about aerobreaking or is it something where you can drain off speed much faster? I'm sure they could have dipped more earlier, but I understand their worries entirely.

Almost nothing they do in these videos is ever the best way of doing it.

Damn entertaining though.

I can't believe they just stumbled into aerobraking, that's pretty amazing. It was pretty funny listening to their terror and uncertainty over the whole process. Good work guys!

Really looking forward to the rescue mission now!

You can view some of Scott's most impressive Kerbal Space Program stuff here.

Seriously, the dude is legendary in the KSP community. Scott has almost half a million subscribers on YouTube that listen to his easy-to-digest version explanations of complex astrophysics/mechanics/etc. as well as watch him do various "let's play" type videos of games like Kerbal Space Program, Elite Dangerous, and Star Citizen, as well as a few other engineer-minded games like Infinifactory.

Somewhere at the point of timewarping into Kerbin's atmosphere, a wormhole opened caused by the intense mix of the electomagntic field and amplified gravity caused by time dilation acting on the hull of the ship, sucking Erodolin into a stasis of non-time in between universes.

Definitely disagree with the couple of you wanting shorter, edited episodes. I love seeing the entire process. They keep it entertaining and fun the entire time.

My wife's contractions started on a Thursday evening at 21:00, we headed into hospital at 20:00 on Friday, labour proper stared at 23:30 on Saturday and our son was born at 08:15 on Sunday morning, by which time I'd been awake for a solid 48 hours.

This episode felt longer and only slightly less stressful.
