man watching alex play and seeing how engaging the writing is just assures me that i wasn't just imagining things and that mass effect: andromeda was really that bad in the writing department.

I am a bit surprised about the lack of familiarity with the South African accent due to Lethal Weapon 2!

Anytime someone asks about ME:A, I feel like EDI:

Someone Else: "Hey, have you played ME:A? What did you think of it?"

@seventytwotransformations: The writing was so bad for ME:A that I got a digital refund for it. Keep in mind, digital refunds only give you an hour of gameplay max before your refund becomes invalid. THAT speaks volumes.

@madlands: He's cool but how they implement him in the game is so clumsy. They did a better job with Kasumi

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite AA meeting on the Citadel.

Good thing you changed out of that dress. They definitely didn't have a dress in mind when they made Shepard's sitting animations.

The heist setup is a fun thing, never did this dlc myself so it's neat to see, looks like it's at least more interesting than Zaeeds, and you don't get no dress out of that.

Regarding Alex's questions about crew equipment: You don't get to equip your squad with armour, but completing their loyalty mission unlocks a useful (usually character specific) ability and a secondary skin for their armour. Quite worth it besides the loyalty missions just being really really good.
You should go check out some of those armour pieces you bought though, you can swap between different pieces at your leisure and get some more bonuses that fit your play-style.

And I don't think it's spoiling it since it's your stated mission in this game; preparing to hit the Collectors. Which means building up your crew, upgrading their abilities, and as winning their loyalties, which includes upgrading the Normandy as well.

Hope to see them back on the trail for more main recruits in the next episode, I'm excited for whoever they decide to go for, they're all good.

I've been watching this series from from the beginning, and for some reason I still always think that it releases on monday. Thank god it's tuesday!

Is anybody else experiencing anxiety that we're 5 episodes in and I haven't seen them save once?

I love the Vinny can remember the side conversation of the drill sergeant guy talking outside the citadel security, but can't remember that Dr. Michel was kind of a major component to the quest line that gets Saren popped.

I played this game for the first time from start to finish because of this series. Thanks. I wish I could binge this series though.

@alex As for the System that Kasumis's mission was in, the names Feynman and Wheeler are decent clues as to whom the planets are named after. They are all theoretical Physicists. Bekenstein himself revolutionized understanding entropy and Black Holes.

It's a bummer that Alex skipped a bunch of stuff in the vault.

I'm kind of glad I didn't pick up this DLC at any point. Pretty weak from the looks of it.

(First off, LOVE this series so much. Thank you again.) So, here's what you do as you STILL haven't discovered the private bathroom in your cabin, and I'm wondering if it got modded out. But perhaps you have to walk into the wall to trip the door. So, stand in front of your space hamster and turn right and walk into the "wall." The (apparently secret) bathroom should open. It's driving me crazy. I have to know if it's there. I just played through the trilogy and . . . maybe I was indoctrinated, but I swear you have a working bathroom. I . . . feel like I . . . could have done more. . . save the . . . shadowy tendrils . . . scared child . . . Odd. . . noises....... . . . . . . . . . . ...

I forgot how good Kasumi's loyalty mission is... and it's not even one of my favorite loyalty missions! I know I'm not the first person to say this, and I know I won't be the last, but this series is really making me want to play Mass Effect 2 again... and it's making me wish we ever got a new game in the series. Shame that they stopped at three and definitely only three Mass Effect games.

Kasumi's Loyalty mission is one of my favourites.

The "weird" planet names are all surnames of famous physicists, as is the system itself (Boltzmann). Several of them won a nobel prize, and two ('t Hooft and Veltman) of them shared one.

As for the strange accent, it's South African.

@rariow: in the previous episode you could hear it open as they left the cabin but alex had already turned the camera

Use SMGs/Overload against shields and Pistol/Warp against Armor. This will become important to remember towards the mid to late game.

Also, if you can manage kill a YMIR mech with a headshot, it will explode like a mini-nuke.

Kasumi jumped onto the airship and gave it the killing blow in a badass manner in my play through, why didn't it happen here?

Not a big fan of the Kasumi DLC. They've done way better storytelling, but the vault is pretty good anyway.

Damn, I know the graybox beeping was annoying and you couldn't have known that would trigger the next stage but shame they didn't examine the Vault completely. There's a cool codex entry for the Statue of Liberty head.

It should be noted that there's no maximum capacity for resources. You can store as much resources as you want.

On a side note, I killed a lot of fish in my play through of this game recently, I kept forgetting to feed them and they kept dying. I was so happy when yoeman chambers took on the fish feeding duty. And I really appreciated the fish feeding VI in Mass Effect 3

Okay he finally clicked on it!

He was so close, SO CLOSE to changing his armor and taking off that stupid bugged helmet that has his hair clipping through and equipping the armor he bought that he never uses but "ehhhhh, whatever." I can hear Vinny squirm. Uhhhhh I love this series but I also haaate it, Alex is so blasé about everything. Like he's going through the game as if he's in s hurry "yes, yes, whatever, whatever, ehhh, let's go, let's gooooo." Like, come on dude, explore the mechanics and systems, take It all in, it's Metal Gear Scanlon all over again.

@vinny: Since I’ve seen some confusion about this I wanted clarify the costume situation. You do unlock partner costumes via loyalty missions but you guys also have some dlc partner costumes (you messed with them in a previous episode, thus why Miranda is currently wearing what she’s wearing). You choose partner costumes on the screen where you choose which partners you want to bring with you on a mission. There are two characters I might suggest checking out their alt costumes: the prisoner character you haven’t unlocked yet and Garrus. Garrus in particular because his default outfit stays permanently battle damaged for the rest of the game which just always kind of bothered me. lol. As always, it’s been great to see Alex experiencing this game as (much like you) this a definite favorite of mine.
