@alex and @vinny, for the Cerberus Shield guys, instead of shooting at their feet, aim for the "mail" slot at the top of the shield. You can get a headshot and drop them immediately

Alternatively, the Armour Piercing mod (which is probably one of the best modifications in the game) will bypass the damage nullification of the Guardian shield so you can do damage wherever you hit them, and hilariously disrespects the cover-based rules of the game by applying damage shooting right through cover.

There's also a number of weapons which have this armor piercing effect innately, including the Executioner Pistol (which I am dying to see them use someday for how fun it is, seeing as it will probably down a Guardian in a single hit based off how easily they're wiping out everything else)

Alternately, alternatively, since he finished the Omega DLC, he can assign "Lash" as a power in the med bay. That way, he can just rip the shields right out of their hands.

Tip @alex when you use Javik's Dark Channel to 'poison' the fools, you can hit them with Throw or Warp and they will explode in a biotic combo, often knocking down other people around them. Then the Dark Channel will transfer to a different foe and you can repeat the throw/warp for another explosion.

Agreed, Alex should consider upping the difficulty a notch, staying in cover, and shooting the Cerberus shield guys THROUGH THE MAIL SLOT. Keep it going, Shep Shep!

@csl316: Same. I re-listened to the Revelation audiobook about six months ago and it still holds up!. Though I'm a little sad the pronunciation is different between the game and Audiobook. *shrug* ah well.

Short but sweet episode. Also, echo'ing the suggestion to up the difficulty.

Just a note, pretty sure this mission wasn't about to expire.

The priority mission you got, Sur'Kesh, has no time limit. After that mission you get Priority Tuchanka which has no time limit EDIT: It does. Finishing that mission immediately triggers Priority Citadel II, which is the point of no return for missions like Grissom Academy, at least according to the wiki.

EDIT: Just reading some more and seems there's a bunch of conflicting information and I think the wiki isn't really 100% correct. My bad. These missions apparently have time limits: Grissom academy Tuchanka: bomb Lesuss: Ardat-yakshi monastery Arrae: ex-cerberus scientists. And there are a couple of things that are locked by finishing Priority: Tuchanka.

Oh yeah, Lash is dope. That said, I don't think he's going to really engage with med-bay squad powers all that much given he's already assigned all his most frequently-used powers to controller buttons already, and I find armor piercing is a much simpler way of dealing with most armor-based problems.

I was relieved to see Vinny was so concerned about the status of Grissom. I love these games to death but the tight time frames you have to play on, especially this last game, can be a nuisance. Getting to a mission too late can really handicap entire sections of the game. Vinny has been a great coach so far and I'm really looking forward to the rest!

Alex looking at dying teenager bleeding all over herself while Liara begs him to help her: (almost literally whistling, seeing nothing)

Alex using his sixth sense to detect a gun under a couch cushion behind him: Wait, Vinny, something needs my attention.

Not that I'm complaining, that was just very funny.

The Mattock was the best gun in ME2, it's also the best gun in ME3.

When in the mech and rocketing the Cerberus troops is the sound effect just a bowling ball hitting pins in a bowling alley?

Funnily enough I was living in Adelaide at the time I played this game, which made Chobot's line all the more odd for me.

That bit around 14 mins where Alex picks up an armour upgrade and pans the camera right past a girl bleeding to death.

I think they missed the conversation it's possible to have with Donnelly and Daniels on the Citadel where they thank Shepard for releasing them from Alliance arrest.

I've gotten used to it now but I still get a little frustrated like the other commenters how Alex navigates 3D environments. It's like he needs to be moving constantly to process the environment so he'll walk backwards into rooms without doing a 360 and walk back out and then wonder why he didn't notice stuff. This might sound harsh but no wonder he mostly sticks to sports, music and driving quick looks. I know brains can work differently and I would think most people look, register and react without necessarily moving so I'm just annoyed when he misses some good stuff. That said he did manage the atrium combat reasonably well where I died at least once.

Anyways I think the dialogue with Jack might be some of my favorite in the game and it seemed human in a way that most of the rest of the game did not. ME3 should get merit for it's Citadel interactions and combat but the second half of the story plot is soooo over the top. Somewhat satisfying in the end but it drags too much IMO.

One thing all the trilogy games have in common seems to be that most combat missions have the same enemies respectively:

  • ME1: Geth
  • ME2: Blue Suns
  • ME3: Cerberus

Not going to rescue Grissom Academy leads to one of the bleakest storylines in this entire franchise, I can understand why the commenters were a little overly cautious in their request.
