Wow the voice acting is not very good at all, is it?

Weird you'd say that, because I think the voice acting is incredible? Maybe the secondary characters aren't amazing, but the narration and Alan Wake/Mr. Scratch are fantastic.

Not amazing? I thought they were teeeeeeeeeeerrible.

Maybe that's just me.

Not teeeerrible but preeeeeetty good. But I loved all the stuff they ever did. hopefully they got better lip sync though. Replaying the first game right now and that stuff is real bad.

Did... Did Patrick call the game Alan Wake: American Nightwear at the beginning?

Now I'm pumped for this quick look!

Never understood the love for Alan Wake. Thought the combat was bad and the writing poor typical wankery.

You must hate a lot of video games then if that's the case.

Alan Wake fell apart for me when I found I could just run from checkpoint to checkpoint for about 3/4 of the game.

I was one of the people who liked its ending, though.

Realizing that would have made my experience with the game much more enjoyable. I liked the story enough to want to see it through, but hated the combat.

I hope the next game/dlc is called American Nothing. Then the one after that is Give Up The Ghost.

Same here. I found dodging the Taken and exploding them into light pretty darn satisfying.

@Slaker117: I was in a really bad state of mind when I played it, but despite my stubborn refusal to engage in the central gameplay - it got downright pathological how often I "proved" you could just keep running past the set piece fights - I'd agree that the story/atmosphere bits were worth seeing.

And how about that soundtrack?

The band featured in this game is called Poets of the Fall, but in the game they go under the name Old Gods of Asgard

Here's one of the songs featured in Alan Wake with the guy they used for Alan Wake's likeness, really great group

Oh and this game looks nice, I'll have to play it sometime, really enjoyed Alan Wake

I liked it too, but it got old by the end. That was easily one of my top 5 games in 2010. Best Xbox 360 exclusive title of 2010 for me.

@TehJedicake: It's exactly what you'd want. Better visuals with gamepad support. Works great, I highly recommend it. Should have come out on the PC to begin with...

Oh, and also being able to disable the HUD is sweet. I always wanted to do that in the 360 version. The game has such good atmosphere.

Looks great & agreed about the survival mode not being all that wanted but if the rewards from doing the survival mode is seeing more videos from their brand of Night Gallery brand of crazy (or behind the scenes stuff) I'll give it a go.

Not what I wanted. I wanted a redesinged feel with a whole lot of enemies. I wanted the story to be as Quentin Tarantinoish as they said. Kinda Dissapointed.

I guess I'm one of the few who enjoyed Alan Wake's combat. Though even I'll admit it worn it's welcome like 2-3 hours too late, and playing through the DLC (the first one; didn't play the second) was nothing but a chore sadly.

This does look a lot of fun all the same, though. Love the change of scenery, the bigger weapon count, and Alan sports himself a plaid shirt like a professional.

I thought the amount of combat in the game was mostly okay, the core mechanic is excellent. It just needed more variety. While less story is disappointing more varied combat with new enemies and weapons sounds great to me.

I see the satellite and I think... Puzzle Agent crossover.

Speaking of which, I really hope Puzzle Agent 3 is in the works. 2 was disappointing in terms of what 1 set up, but the franchise has so much potential for both humor and mystical shit.

Yeah, Wake and Scratch seem good, but that scientist sounded horrible. Not sure if that was on purpose to make it campy or what.

Sad to hear Ryan's and Patrick's somewhat negative opinions of the Twilight Zone blu-rays; not sure how much they've viewed of them but I think they are truly excellent. Considering the source material the visual clarity is remarkable and manages to surpass the quality found on many modern releases. On top of that you have an astounding amount of special features, many of which are exclusive to these blu-ray sets. I cannot recommend them enough.

Still have doubts? Here are some hugely positive reviews of the sets:

HD Digest - Season 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Blu-Ray.com - Season 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Now go buy them!!!

As for the game, I think it looks great. I love the narration style and look forward to playing it.

I don't get Ryan's hang up over the combat and generally very nitpicky during this QL. The combat isn't Max Payne but it's not terrible either. In tight surroundings the combat can be very intense as you have to be aware of your surroundings and manage your bullets and batteries. If anything, it makes it more survival based than what RE has turned into simply because you have to weaken your enemies before you can do any damage to them.

I didn't have a problem with the combat in Alan Wake myself, in fact i thought got more challenging near the end. I remember those sprinting enemies being really annoying because i could never get a lock on them till they were right in front of me.

I never finished the DLC but maybe i'll check this out at some point.

Yeah i'm surprised they didnt pick up on that in the QL. Although I find a lot of british accents anoying (english myself) oh well, hopefully she's just a minor character.

I really liked the combat in Alan Wake, partly because it was constantly making you choose whether or not you stayed and fought (with diminishing resources) or if you dropped a flare and tried to frantically make it to the next checkpoint. Making running away just as tense and entertaining an option as combat made the whole survival horror aspects of the game really cool, especially on a harder difficulty.

This looks a little more heavy on the combat and with less emphasis on the survival elements, but I'm really digging the change in tone. Remedy really knows how to write tongue-in-cheek homages of various pop-culture cliches, and them tackling the twilight zone (with a heavy dose of "From Dusk Till Dawn") is a match made in heaven. Really looking forward to this.
