Giantbomb exists for games like Dark Souls 2. I predict lots of entertainment value being had from this game.

So should I consider this a preview of the only premium content for the next few months?

Seems like Brad's finally actually enjoying the souls games. However I get skeptical every time he states that he's "on board" with a game in a quick look. I've heard the declaration from Brad of being "on board" with a game, only to have him promptly not play it anymore ever. For the record I don't really think that is gonna happen with this game, but hearing him say the words "I'm fully on board with this game now" has gotten to where it makes me think bullshit every time.

Apologies for the tangent, the game looks great and I cannot wait to play it. Also that music in the hub zone is fantastic and it is now stuck in ma brain.......

So if the frame rate has increased dramatically since the beta build then I guess we know why the lighting seems to have taken a hit on the console version. Looking forward to picking this up in April on PC.

also not to rub it in but i like how it seems the peecee was the lead development platform this time around. may still pick it up on ps3 but i've got so much to play now...

Brad made the classic Souls mistake at around 47:00. Trying to quickly rush back to his bloodstain and making stupid mistakes on the way there resulting in death, something everyone that's played these games is all too familiar with.

This truly is the Darkest of Souls.

Dark Souls is a series that I have grown to understand and be intrigue in because of the GB crew but it is definitely not a game that I can play.

It's a real shame they didn't show of some of the ranged combat since that's what I'm most curios about but other than that Brad did a great job showing the game of.

I am not judging him or saying anything about him "playing it wrong". What happened there is the essence of Dark Souls. I specifically said it's a mistake everyone makes, it's just part of playing Souls games and it's great.

EDIT: Also, if you're going to reference a prior comment when responding to someone, make it clear what you're talking about so I don't have to go look for it.

Good morning dark souls, kind of sad matt isn't on the team since he was on board for the DS1 quicklook and that was the video that intoduced me to this website, anyway hope this wil keep me entertained till I can pick up my copy on Friday.

@burgavo: The good news is that Brad mentioned on Twitter that he, Rorie and Vinny recorded themselves talking about DSII after the weekend and will be posting it tomorrow as a dumptruck.

So when Brad wasn't doing much damage to the guy with the shield, is it because the way Brad was swiping, it was actually hitting the shield? Like, kind of a passive blocking? If so, does that work for your guy too?

Dying to play this ASAP on PC. Gonna be a painful wait. I kinda wish I'd also been able to get a collector's edition on PS3 again so my Souls trilogy would be complete, but alas.

So tempted to watch this, but I haven't even watched the trailers in order to keep the experience as new as possible. Guess I'll wait until tomorrow.

@ripelivejam: Playing some DS1 before watching this made me uneasy when he wasn't holding down the shield button once he got it. Alsi I guess he never used a spear in a Souls game before, because the range on them is so good, when an enemy has one you really need to watch yo self.

Anyway, this looks great and the UI is killer! The animation and general polish is a huge step up and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Makes me wish the previous games looked this good. Only thing that stuck out to me was the yellow on your HP bar when getting hit looked like an off-shade of yellow, too prominent/plain? idk it stuck out strangely.

Regarding the staggering: on 8-4's most recent podcast they talk a bit about the changes in Dark Souls II, including the changes to the stats (i.e. Adaptability) and how staggering works. They basically explained when you are caught by an enemy with your stamina down all the way, you are punished much more severely for it.

i was on my phone, sorry. and i get the context of your comment now that you explained it; taken as is it's par for the course of your typical dark souls fan though. and i'm not looking forward to the flood of much much worse to come.

i like these games and what they set out to do; their fanbase as a whole certainly not.

i dunno, i just remember a time when you used to play games FOR FUN. sure some people are trying to exaggerate humorously when they say watching brad play gives them physical pain, but i guarantee the majority of them are 100% dead serious.

i guess this is another case of ignore the dickheads rather than calling them out for what they are? eh, whatever.

Little bit disappointed that there is no more rag doll physics but everything else seems like a more polished Dark Souls which is great.

I thought the braziers were very useful for letting me know if I had been through an area before or not.
