A true Quick Look.

The FOV-slider alone is a gamechanger. Couldn't imagine playing it at lower than max.

Too bad the game itself is turning out to be such a content-sparse snoozefest.

I know whenever they do a PC QL of a game they've already done it is almost always way shorter than usual, but 15 minutes is pretty short. Still, glad they took a look at it either way, having a blast with it so far on PC, and while I can see the content isn't exactly over flowing (and the PVP scene looks to be DOA, unless I just play at bad times) it IS fun. And god damn gorgeous.

It's a shame the gun models are still humongous though. Really shouldn't have handguns taking up the whole length of the screen.

My favorite option is being able to up the internal rendering resolution. You can turn off all the AA and everything and just set the resolution to 150% and it looks even more gorgeous.

Haha, yeah, I got surprised to see it was already set at 85 when he went into the menu, because the size of that gun model made it look like it was at like 50.

Rorie you gotta hit apply to show fov you didn't apply and it was still 85 so it was funny when you said it looked different, it didnt. Edit: Oh well you noticed this my bad should have watched the whole vid first.

Also your incessant monitor talk convinced me to buy a monitor the other day but since I am blind in one eye I skipped the 34 inch ultra wide and just got a 32 inch 4k monitor with g sync. You did this.

More and more games these days are opting to do deferred rendering rather than traditional forward rendering because it allows for much more dynamic lighting. One of the downsides though is that it does rule out the use of MSAA in most cases. I think it is technically possible to do MSAA with deferred rendering in DX 11/12 or OpenGL 3.0+ but it's still difficult and prone to issues. Newer post-processing AA like SMAA and TXAA are generally good enough that it's not worth the effort to get MSAA working, and people with powerful enough machines can also opt for downsampling.

Is anyone else losing FPS in game after sometime of playing? I was running around with a duder from the community last night and we noticed we'd lose 10-15fps after a large event and it'd required a restart to fix.

Took a whole nine minutes and fifteen seconds before first 21:9 monitor mention :-) I love that Rorie has kept this going, it's good to see someone enjoying a purchase so much, I'm kinda jealous. Thanks for this PC quicklook.

I hope Rorie never stops talking about his monitor even when someone else gets a new one. Just keep it going forever.

Hoping I'll be able to give this a go in due time. And that the online nature of the game will not be so bad that everyone will be so far ahead of me that I'm just a burden to my friends.

The current guess to the gradual frame rate drops over time is the clan system being bugged and constantly refreshing the clan roster. But if it's happening to people not in a clan, then I don't know what's going on.

@arcadefire: Are you in a clan? That's usually the cause of it. Hopefully they can fix it soon.

IF @rorie Quick Look: Rorie's Monitor dos not happen, I am going to start deliberately stubbing my toe every hour on the hour. Imagine that. IMAGINE.

Yea it seems that public events tend to cause this. The game runs butter smooth then after each new public event it drops and drops until it gets so chunky it's unplayable. At that point even if the game says something like 62fps for me it feels like a jittery 20.

@arcadefire: I was having this problem as well. Apparently it happens when you are in a clan. One quick fix is to switch to the European servers. This way you don’t have to leave your clan in order to get better performance.

Hopefully they fix this bug soon... and also add in-game clan chat.

It's kinda crazy how just the change to 60 fps makes it all look so much better.

My only issue with the PC port is that the game is nearly completely lacking in social features.

No local/region chat and no clan chat. No LFG, no communicating with other people in public quests to try to get them to play a certain objective/activate the heroic.

It just feels really lonely.

It always stings so much because I bought a new expensive monitor right at the turning point of high Hz and G-Sync. I spent 1500 on a regular 59 Hz 1440P monitor.

As someone who has not played any Destiny until this release, I'm having quite a bit of fun with this game. Maybe that'll change once I finally reach end game, but for now, my only problem with the game is Ikora's flat voice acting. Especially juxtaposed with the fantastic work from Nathan Fillion.

You'd think Rorie and Brad would know what fps video they upload to YouTube, let alone the fact YouTube has supported 60fps for over 3 years now.

There's something wearing about Rorie's proud insistence that he never plays games specifically designed to be multiplayer experiences as single player games. Perhaps it's my ten years playing WoW as part of a big guild and raiding three times a week, but hearing him talk about playing that without engaging with other people, and now to a lesser extent this, really makes me think he misses a huge part of what makes the games so great.

For a while there only East was uploading in 60fps; wasn't sure when we recorded this if we had changed that on our side too.

Here's my pro tip for the PC version of Destiny 2, if you change depth of field from highest to high you'll get an extra like 30fps.

complaining about default bindings is a pretty pointless thing to complain about. Anyone who buys a PC game is gonna take the 30 seconds it takes to get things to how they want them anyway.

The delay on releasing the PC version has led to me skipping this game. I'm sure I'd have gotten it had it released at the same time as the console version but right now I've seen lots of Destiny on video and with all the other great games dropping this week I spent my money on Mario and Wolfenstein with serious consideration going towards buying AssCred which I really felt I wasn't going to be interested in at all.

Yeah if PC had been day and date with consoles I would have totally gotten it. Now though, everyone has moved on from talking about it and all the negative stuff about the story has overwritten how good the gameplay is, plus the shader stuff. I liked Destiny 1 a lot. But I bought it a couple months ago for $8 at Half Price Books and played only the single player stuff because I don't have PS+. It was fun and worth that, but since this is just more of the same except with wacky npcs I dunno if i'm interested.

Thanks for trying brad, but what the actual F kind of professionalism are u contributing with rorie? I would really recommend you to pause life for a while. Ive been where you are rorie and damn it if you are not getting closer.

I wish all the stuff about powerlevel was built into the game. I had no idea it's better to hold onto your rep tokens and then turn them in at a certain powerlevel. :(

Sorry if it seems like a joke, but for something like this and my comments about Wolfenstein on UPF it really does affect how I approach gaming. It might be niche but when games do/don't support the kind of high-end PC options I think it's worth mentioning.

Having played it for the last few days, I think the PC version might actually exacerbate the problem. Being able to use a mouse and keyboard makes everything dead easy.

I think if Bungie were to develop the means to transfer your character progress between PC and console versions, then the player base on PC would increase significantly. I would imagine that most of the "hardcore" Destiny players bought the console version, and even if they own a PC, are now hesitant to do everything all over again. I'm definitely one of them. I'd really love to play the PC version, even willing to spend the extra $60, but having to get all my gear all over again? No thanks. How difficult could it be? Couldn't be much more than checking a bunch of boxes, right? Not sure why Bungie isn't doing it. If they ever do, I'll probably buy it.

If I owned the PC version, I'd primarily play that one, and only switch back to the console when my friends there were playing.

Who knows? Perhaps I'll get it anyways. It's a really good game.
