Lots of abilities. Would be nice if you could bind em to seperate keys in the PC version.

You can have them on your top row of numbers on your keyboard, like with any other game. But it just so happens that the quick access wheel is a bit more intuitive and honestly ends up being faster during a battle.

Patrick, you really need to play the Thief games. It was kinda weird to hear so many comparisons to Deus Ex and Metal Gear (WTH?) when it should have been Thief (traversing + exploration) and Dark Messiah (combat + character progression).

Thus far I am like 70% in on buying this day one but i need to know a few things. After all they ask 60$ for this on PC and X-Com is coming out the same day for 10$ less!

How long is the game?, how is the PC version? (technical) how about the controls? are we looking at a good version (think Borderlands 2) or is it just a port (think Dark Souls).

Also it said DLC right there in the main menu. Does the game really runs it's course or are we buying the ending afterwards?

Where has all the excitement gone from the GB crew? Are they sick of games? Hopefully it comes back with the new console generation or something. They just sound tired nowadays.

I am really not seeing it here either. I have to say that Patrick doesn't seem to understand that Metal Gear has never really had that 'reload the save cause i fucked up' problem since like...2? What is he really basing these claims off of?

I remember MGS3 being extremely forgiving and MGS4 allowing for a run and gun style of play. Splinter Cell evolved way back in Chaos Theory where it offered multiple styles of play and conviction was run and gun like MGS4.

The only game I can say that severely punished you for doing one thing wrong was Hitman. I remember it being insanely easy to die or screw the whole thing up if you so much as walked too close to someone. This has not been the case in any stealth games that have evolved (almost all of them). I want to even say that MGS1 wasn't even that hard to recover from. I remember shooting my way out of several situations. Oh well.

This game isn't for me, I never was a fan really of Deus EX. The game seems to slow for me and far to much time doing first person platforming, also I can't stand steam punk.

Seems cool, though I kinda wish Jeff was the 2nd chair since he is playing it too. Ryan pretty much added nothing to this QL at all. I'll wait to hear what Jeff thinks about it on the podcast, but I am slightly more interested in this now because of the QL.

I'm sure I would've loved Dark Messiah if I weren't part of the 50% of people who encounter the memory leak PC bug an hour into the game.....

But I am so looking forward to this!

No, yes, no, doesn't matter, yes but it's separated into discreet missions with sub-mission as is explained. Read the review.

Actually, it matters a whole lot to me, I don't buy a game based only on the length of it but it does factor into my purchasing decision.

So would you tell me how long it is please?

Call me crazy but this game does nothing for me, looks bland, and boring. But that's just me.

Don't know if serious or just trolling.

He doesn't like the game. I fail to see how you could possibly come to the conclusion that he's "trolling."

I'm the same way. It looks like City 17-meets-Bioshock-meets-Deus Ex, and I'd rather play both bioshock and Deux Ex before this game, because they're both unique. I don't particularly like the art style and the combat/traversal doesn't look very fun. I enjoy hacking and turning an enemy's defenses against them, and without computers and turret emplacements and security cameras, this game has nothing for me.

But I'm just trolling.

Yeah I mean, it looks a lot like Bioshock to me, but I played that game for its setting and story, not the combat, this game seems to have a very unappealing setting to me, looks bland.

But then again, expressing distaste is just trolling. ;)

nah i think your right, or at least i share your opinion. i play these types of games for the world and the story, gameplay looked well made but personally i was bored as well watching this. i rather play through human revolution and bioshock again.

but part of the issue is that we barely saw any of the locales and the story in this game. all we saw was the scoopz man "blinking" around and stabbing guys , no sense of the story, no sense of the locations, and not even one of those cool story missions that he alluded the game having in his review. just blinking, turn into a fish/rat, and kill dudes.

I feel like this is a game I would have a lot of fun playing, but it just isn't doing anything for me in this Quick Look. I'll probably wind up checking it out at some point nonetheless.

Jeez, for a game where you can possess a fish, Ryan is surprisingly serious-face about it all. Guess he was just kinda tired when recording.

Also people really need to check out Chris Watter's video review on Gamespot. This looks like it could be a lot of fun.

I'm not sure, but it wasn't short enough that Patrick complained about not getting enough game or long enough that he felt it out-stayed its welcome, so he thinks there's a value to it. Otherwise, I'm sure the answer is easy enough to find.

Batrick, I say this thinking you've been a pretty good addition to Giant Bomb, and knowing that you take criticism extremely well -- maybe even better than anyone else in the games press:

You have to play the game in your Quick Looks. Please. It was like 8 minutes in before you even did anything in this. Talk about playing the game at E3, its development history, your personal relationships/interviews, whatever, all needs to happen naturally as you're just playing the game to 1) Have fun, 2) Show what the game is, and 3) Have fun.

Let the conversation happen organically, man. Looking at menus or the environment while you talk just isn't working for me. Good podcast material, not so much for Quick Looks.

Unfortunately, the trailers and preview materials put out by the publisher have really beaten that horse to death. I think he would've been more surprised if we hadn't already seen so many of the gameplay options in the marketing.

Judging by Patrick's saves shown in the QL, I think it's at least around 24 hours? Plenty of value in any case.

Ah, the save times, thanks should have thought of that.

Yeah, for me about 20 hours is the perfect length for this type of game.

@thebatmobile: I think Patrick did a great job, a lot of information stuffed in here. Problem is Ryan has 0 enthusiasm regarding the game. This is like Dave and Vinny trying to convince Ryan of how great Cryostasis is. The very nature of a QL means what makes some of them good makes some of them bad.. or just plain boring.

One problem though. How much effort goes in to planning QL's? The RE6 QL had some of the same problem, poor choice of what was shown(in some instances). It would seem better to have save files specifically saved for QL's(unless that's already the case?)

To be specific; it just feels haphazard a lot of the time, yet QL's are the major feature of the site. If QL's are replacements for reviews than they should have a comparable amount of effort/time put into them, since other sites will put a lot of emphasis on writing a great review for this game.

To be fair, they recorded this after about two hours of Sim Golf. After which, just about every game looks like shit next to that tour de force.

I hadn't seen any footage of this game until now, and I'm a little disappointed. I guess with the name and the descriptions I've heard I though this game was going to be super brutal and dark like a condemned game or something. Still looks pretty fun either way.

@MJones916: I think what might be the real bummer here is how Ryan and Patrick is constantly talking over eachother, tug of war-like, until one of them ultimately talks over the other one enough to properly finish their sentance.

I know it's a game, and that they have to be somewhat generous, but for the guards to treat a grenade thrown from the rooftops as "nothing" because they couldn't find who did it in 3 minutes still makes me laugh.

All stealth games provoke this reaction - from Metal Gear's "Well-he-went-into-the-next-room-I-guess-everything's-fine" idiot guards to DE:HR's "there's this pile of corpses here, but the alarm has gone down, nothing to worry about" PMC goons.

I came here to say this. I'm not the biggest fan of the art style, and it doesn't help it was captured with the Xbox version, but the colours look WAY washed out and low-contrast. It made it look even worse. Hopefully it's not that bad and can be adjusted.

To be fair although Scoops does dilly dally a lot, Ryan just seemed bored. Maybe they were tired. I know he's previously said he "doesn't see it" when it comes to this game. Kind of an odd choice for a partner.

I'd actually love to know how they determine who does a Quick Look and how they pair them up.

No! I like it too, it has some of the worst dialogue and voice acting in a game, ever, but I really like that game. I really really like Arkane!

But damn if this game hasn't been overhyped and forced down my throat. I find it hard to find any enthusiasm towards it...Perhaps in a few months I'll warm up to it, after GotY. Melee doesn't seem too hot as it was in that game at the time, but everything else seems cool

Dark Messiah was a hit as far as I'm concerned, it was one of my favorite RPGs ever made. The main reason I even want Dishonored is because Arkane Studios is working on it. Glad it seems like they did another fantastic job with their game.
