Hoping this is good, have been pretty excited for a long time.

I will play the free version of this game. That is all.

Graphics are amazing. But it seems super bare bones. And I don't just mean the PS Plus version.

The full game doesn't have a very big or varied car selection, no American or Japanese cars of any kind, not a lot of game modes, no real customization, no real interesting options or replayability, just seems like a really basic stripped down simple game with not a whole lot going for it aside from having fantastic visuals and the fact that Forza isn't on Playstation. Plus the social stuff isn't exactly super exciting.

Still seems like it might be fun for a little while though so I'll definitely be playing the free version. Sure is pretty.

Hope it's good, I don't want another bad handling game like Need For Speed.

Yeah, this game has always felt like it didn't really have an identity to me. Neither sim or arcade. That it lacks a lot of the options you come to expect from a racer (which Danny and Andy also said on a stream yesterday) isn't all that surprising given that this was meant to be a launch game, but still...

I'll probably wait for the reviews, but don't think I'll pick this game up. It looks great visually, but that's about it for me right now.

@danryckert Hot hatch = sensible small car with a big engine (and stupid "tuner" bits glued to the bodywork). And yes - its a European thing (you have instead cheap muscle cars).

Seen it commented on; DriveClub is driving fancy-ass cars (all but one are European and the one from the US is the Henessey so not really, probably a licensing issue) around fancy beautiful realistic tracks and beating times, doing it socially. That's it.

Gran Turismo 7 will be the thing as long as it keeps the tradition of starting in ordinary cars and going up from there because screw just having fancy-ass fresh new cars, it's nothing but Forza. I need my realistic career simulation.

Seems very limited.

I can somewhat understand having never heard the term "hot hatch", but I certainly did not expect Dan to not grasp the basic concept of a hatchback.

Agreed, my succinct friend. After a week of Forza Horizon 2, this seems like a pretty bland experience. Which is a shame. I was really hoping I'd be able to have a Playstation Racer to look forward to as a counterpoint to the Forza series. (not a big fan of GT)

This just seems like a missed opportunity.

Disappointed to see there isn't much to the game other than the pretty graphics. Going to give the free version a try but now I'm not sure if I want to buy the full version.

Also, I wish Jeff was a little more informed about the game. Like he didn't know what the deal was with the PS+ stuff, and he also didn't know about the weather patch. I mean all that stuff has been talked about for months now, so it really wouldn't take more than a few minutes to read up on it and be prepared for the quicklook. If you're going to do videos on a game, let alone review it, you should probably be informed about it. Maybe Evolution studios should have sent something explaining it with the review copies though.

Yeah, by the looks of the menus & Jeff's first impressions - the lack of customization and deep progression bums me out. I'll stick check it out though, it's damn pretty.

The grippiness quib from the developers statement around 7 minutes in breaks it for me. Goddamnit. Will play the PS+ freebie but

And a reverse/undomistake function is for pussies who shouldn't be playing racing sims but AI shouldn't be dickish making it feel like its necessary

I liked that 2nd hood cam and that was about it. Bummer.

This quicklook sort of confirms what I already assumed the game would be like. Like Dan said it looks soulless and extremely barebones. I might play the PS+ edition because it's free, but I might not even bother with that.

I hope the PS4 will get some decent if not great driving games soon though because it's my favorite genre and it's totally being ignored for the most part by Sony right now. Just get me that PS4 Gran Turismo already. GTwas completely wasted on the PS3 and they should have foccused on PS4 instead.

If only turn 10 would produce multiplatform games...

Man, this is a bummer. I was really hoping for a good sim racer for the PS4, but apparently not. The F1 game isn't even coming out there :(

I can't bring myself to finish this QL, the ignorance on display is just too much. Is there any positivity in the whole thing? Because all I'm hearing are complaints from someone who can't accept that racing games don't have to be either GT or Wipeout.

I hate to see people blindly taking Jeff's (or any bomber's) word on games as final. They often confuse facts (and in this case quotes) and don't approach things in a way many consumers would.

For those wondering, the PS+ edition has 1 location, India. The Full version has India, Chile, Scotland, Norway and Canada, as well as the main campaign (tour mode).

Car list is fucking pathetic, not a single Nissan, Infiniti, Corvette, Lambo, or really any Japanese car. I hope the list I read was like incomplete or something because only including a small handful of European cars is a deal breaker for me and car games. Can't wait until they sell DLC for all the cars they should have included from the start.

A quick google search on the PS+ version of Drive Club would have informed you what you would be getting, that information was publicly available months ago.

Huh. This game seems like kind of a bummer. Can't say that I't that surprised given how long it was delayed and the way Sony have not been talking about it, seemingly, at all lately, but still - a shame that there still doesn't seem to be a really good driving game on the PS4.
