I really hope nobody passes on this game because of the "Brad is Bad" effect on this Quicklook. I could write an essay on all the amazing technical feats present and all the fun things to do in this game. If you liked 2017 AT ALL then you'll love this one. Only pass if you seriously could not stand 2017. Insect Armageddon doesn't count, it was a very bad game.

@yukoasho: QLs have never been about "pro gamerz" playing games at the highest level, and no one is treating it like that. This QL is showing someone playing the game for the first time, and should be judged as such.

I honestly have never played any of these games, but this looks pretty bad.

Maybe it's just not for me.

Brad has gun management issues, i recommend 30 hours of Serious Sam maybe that could improve his... everything.

Actually, I think Armor is what's taking all the damage, but I don't even see a health meter.
Might be wrong though.

I appreciate that, but people are going to form a first impression on whether or not to buy this game based on how it looks here, so it can be frustrating if you're a fan!

not sure which uptight a-hole in these comments i should call out first. game looks fun and they presented it fine, people should relax.

@davoren: But again, people understand that this is from the perspective of someone playing the game (and the series?) for the first time. If they want high level play, there's plenty of that on YT, and if they don't think the game looks very fun from this QL...well, then they do not think the game looks very fun. It doesn't misrepresent the game in any way, it just shows what kind of experience you'll probably have playing it for the first game.

I personally find the "Brad is bad at games!!!!" comments more annoying than any bad play in a QL. People need to understand that the format has never, and will never, be about showing off some amazing gaming skills. You have Twitch streamers for that. And who gives a shit if someone doesn't buy a game because one of the crew played badly in a QL? If they do not lie about a game to get people to buy it, who cares? I'm a fan of plenty of franchises and do not have that attachment to any game.

Regardless of what the staff thinks of a game, and how well they play it, what the game is and how it generally plays comes across quite well in the QL's in my opinion. Just look at the comments here, despite the staff's general dislike, most comments are positive regarding the game, and I'm one of what seems like several who will now check out this series after seeing what it's about.

I think most of us can see if the games are something in our taste regardless of what the crew says about it, I've picked up several games after watching QL's or UPF segments where they haven't been particularly impressed by the games in question.

That Ranger Class looks very similar to the marines in Halo 3. Like, VERY VERY similar.

Brad never gave this game a chance and, accordingly, played like total garbage per usual and then blamed the game because he had no idea what he was doing because he never gave the game a chance. Quick look!

Bummer for them. Will definitely be getting this after playing 2017 on the Vita.

Well, the marines in Halo are kinda just regular modern day soldiers but with future-looking vests and helmets.

Insect Armageddon is waaaaaaay better than this. This really looks like they didn't change much from the first one, aside from unlimited ammo and classes. Insect Armageddon all the way. The classes are way more fun and look more betterererer.

I totally agree with Jeff that EDF games are dumb like Troma studios movies, but just like Troma, you gotta be in on the joke to really get max enjoyment out of it. I got really hype on this series because of the great thread on the somethingawful forums. Going in blind is tough, but if you know the tricks to move faster and what pickups to focus on, I do believe you would have a lot more fun with it.

It's kinda frustrating watching Brad play because he seems so dismissive about it, especially since I am such a fan of the series, but hey what can you do

At this point the inclusion of Brad at the wheel of a quicklook is detrimental to the dissemination of accurate information about the game. Going in blind is one thing, remaining blind until the very end is another. Brad is blind to brightly colored UI elements that are always on screen. Brad is blind to the concept of "investigating further" when he is unsure about a mechanic. Brad is blind to the concept of actually knowing what your buttons do before jumping straight into the middle of something.

He (and his defenders) has said that it's one thing to play a game, and another to play it while also talking with others. If discussing a game for the purposes of a video that is meant to inform and intrigue others about a game is that detrimental to his focus, then he needs to spend >0 seconds playing the game and actually gather a basic understanding of them before calling everyone over.

@that_lamer: Brad just needs to crack open the instruction manual for 5 minutes before a QL. That'd benefit just about every quick look, no matter who is playing.

I'm honestly a little confused that they didn't realize that the wing diver's flight energy was fueling the guns, too. The UI seemed pretty clear about that with the little tube connecting the weapon and flight energy bars that would light up, and I've never even played the game.

I'm unpleasantly reminded of the Malicious QL, where they viciously trashed the game without understanding any of the controls and made no effort to check them...

In any case, aggressively attacking the duders from the safety of the comments section benefits no one. I wish everyone would just take it easy and stop getting mad about video games.
