What a pleasant surprise!

I'm really not a fan of the whole resistance angle but the game still seems very fun to play. Although more time pressure during combat scenarios is not really my cup of tea either.

I don't think I've ever been this excited for a game. I'm intentionally avoiding pre-release content, and STILL my life is falling apart from how much i'm anticipating it.

For those who want to play some XCOM leading up to this, one of the highest quality mods ever just hit 1.0 for Enemy Unknown. It's called Long War, and has been pretty much consuming my life for the past month.

Unsure what to think of the time pressure aspect, but I'm still gonna play the hell out of this game on release.

So this looks extremely similar to XCOM:EU except deeper. Which is cool cause that's a good game.

They show your squad loading out to some really intense and dramatic music, so I'm in.

Can't even begin to imagine how many weeks of my life I'll spend playing this. For me this game is already GOTY 2016.

XCOM 2 retains the aspect that I hate about new XCOM by far: the idle enemies "activate" as an isolated group and instantly get a free turn, making them more like monsters in a board game than an enemy team hunting you down. The two-action-point system and the hard binary of being in cover or not makes this reboot even more like a board game than an actual computer game. I've put many more hours into Xenonauts (a Kickstarted spiritual successor) than 2012's XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

I haven't tried this franchise yet. Wasteland 2 is one of the few tactical games I've ever played. That said, this looks great and I will def play it on console.

early GOTY 2016 hype!

They've announced this as a PC exclusive; as far as I know I haven't heard about a console version.

I have high hopes for more XCOM with the idea of taking some of the lessons learned from the previous games (foreign languages and accents as an example), but the mod tools are what I'm really interested in. I liked some of the things that Xenonauts was pulling for.

@drewbert@unastrike Video levels for your past couple of PC videos seem to have been set incorrectly, resulting in a washed-out image.

I haven't checked the video to be sure, but the likely culprit is that you're recording 0-255 while the PC is outputting 16-235.

Doesn't look ridiculously groundbreaking, but it doesn't have to be for me to want to play it! That Mark guy sounded like he's been on the demo train for the long haul already...

I still sorta wish this was just Terror from the Deep cause that game was real fucked up and I bet you could make it especially fucked up now.

Is it my video player or is the framerate definitely not stable?

I don't know how seriously I can take this game after reading Austin's twitter. Either I'm going to laugh or I'm going to put on my critical eyes and start breaking down the actual whys of the aliens making themselves more human by sexing them up and putting boobs on snakes and jetpacks on sweet abs.

@couldberolf: It's not as bad since you can close in on the objective faster if you remain undetected for as long as possible unlike XCOM:EU. You don't have to spend countless turns setting up overwatch in case you accidentally trigger an alien pod (until your cover is blown)

Man i hope this works well with the steam controller. I guess the first game didn't sell all that well (even though it was on damn near every device). I'm half way through my enemy within playthrough, i only play on normal though anything else just seems like too much for me lol.
