I rented 2010 and it was crazy. I couldn't get past the first race without having some brutal crashes.

It seems like a really good game but it's crazy.

I'll probably rent this one as well but it looks pretty much the same. Just with some updated rules.

I'm really interested in this game. I used to watch F1 on Sundays a long time ago. Back when Schumacher(I think that's his name) used to basically win every race. I'd love to get deep into this game and get good. Too many other games ATM. I might get into it when I finish up with some other games.

Come on, he's talented and he's got an awesome car. But it's way too early to call him a racing god.

If Vettel wins this weekend, he's Drivers Champion second year in a row with 5 races left. The pass he made on Alonso at Monza was just crazy.

There are two other conditions required regarding who has to come second and third. ;)

Of course I'm glad that a fellow German is dominating the sport again but the title "racing god" has to be earned over a longer period of time if you know what I mean. Two years just isn't enough, especially when the car is that much better.

@CptBedlam: He's a good driver but has the best car out there. The most talented drivers are Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel & Kubica if his injury hasn't affected him too much. If any of those drivers had his car, they would be where he is in the standings too.

I don't understand all the complaining. Drew did an admirable job explaining a sport he knows very little about. He even went so far as to do some actual research before this QL, which is a lot more than most of the other staff do.

Yep, I was actually surprised that he knew about KERS, for example.

Great job, Drew and Vinny!

Having watched this video not knowing anything about F1 (I'm in England, but watching racing has never appealed to me), I'm wondering what things in the video got everyone riled up! Other than the simpler things (forgetting to put on tyres suited for rain, for example), what parts were "toe-curling" for people?

I should note that I don't mean this in a snarky way, I'm honestly wondering which parts were inaccurate or poorly played, because this looks roughly how I'd play an F1 game...

@baldgye: they'd have to hire someone in to come and talk about the game properly for that. come on dude you know that's not how it works. drew seems to be about the only one who likes driving games to any great degree so here he is.

it would be nice to know if anything has been fixed though, granted, but considered that the vast majority of reviewers last year didn't even realise how broken the AI was that's another tall order

True I guess... though Ryan seems to know a fair bit about actual racing from listening to the BC...

It's quick looks, and well games in general, like this that make me wish Brian Ekberg was working for Giant Bomb. Brian was great with racing games back at GameSpot and I really enjoyed his coverage and insight on these games.

That's a horrible thing to do to Brian. While I really liked Brian and his coverage of racing games I would rather he stayed at Turn 10 because for a car person like Mechberg, it must be the best job ever. I mean, he got to fly to the Alpas and do "research" for a fictional track they were going to make AND they get to drive awesome cars, for research of course.

I most certainly don't want him to leave his passion to simply work for GB, I'm not that selfish.

Hm. It's a bummer that you guys don't know anything about F1 racing. This is a pretty niche-focused game (obviously), and the specifics about rules, tyres and the new systems like KERS are important to those of us who are fans. Especially since those are some of the changes from last year's game.

Alas.

At least we saw some gameplay.

Woot.

that was pretty cool when he went off the track into the grass, his "tyres" picked up some green from the grass, which probably gives less traction until it wears off. Interesting. . .

What the hell does being an American have to do with it? Have you never played a videogame before? 99% of them use brake as reverse.

2010 was great, this looks amazing and watching two Americans try to make sense of F1 is hilarious. In a good way. Mostly. I did wish I could be there to explain all those things that are obvious to me, like how qualis work or how all the details in the game are licensed and very accurate.

But yeah, lovely. I wonder if there's a PC demo I can try. 2010 worked OK on my machine, but I'd rather make sure.

Oh, is it a new thing to Vinny and Drew that you shouldn't be braking whilst turning the wheel (in the real world), it loses you grip. It always seemed logical to me to never drive that way, of course you're not exactly under race conditions out on the public roads, but you should be doing all your slowing down before you take any corner, so long as it's safe and proper to do so (e.g. you're not about to crash into someone/go off the road). Do other people not drive like that?

Also, if you want to see an example of how awesome F1 can be...

Why wont Codemasters make a BTCC and WTCC game? I know Race Driver/Grid has Touring in it but its not a full licensed product like other Codemasters games. Is it so hard to make a game were if you are driving Plato's car you can jump out and play the "flip off Neal" Mini game.
