Quick Look: Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions

Surprise QL! Was worried about the 3D stages and the new dev, but watching this my feeling is that...this is Geo Wars. Will be picking this up, just like Brad was saying this is a good change of pace for the holidays with all the triple-A games. Reminds me of burning through PacMan CE DX during a Thanksgiving a few years back.

One other thing. I swear at PAX Prime, the guy that was running the demo of this game said that they were aware that people wanted the original GeoWars Evolved and that they were probably going to do it. Pretty bummed out that it's not =\

Activision shut them down after Blur was a flop.

I think they were shutdown by Activision after they made that crappy 007 game. Which was a really shitty thing to do.

I really don't understand all the hate for the Wii version of the game.

I'm not a fan of the way the boards move. But maybe I'll get used to it.

Damn, I didn't even know GeoWars 3 was even in development and now out of nowhere it's out. Grabbing this for the PS4 for sure.

Anyone who is against GeoWars 2 or thinks it's inferior to GeoWars 1 is fucking insane! GeoWars 2 was the perfect dual joystick shooter.

I actually played the shit out of Galaxies for DS, and having a loadout was one of my favourite things about it. So this has already won me over on that front. That combined with remembering it's been a while since I've played any Geometry Wars means I think I'mma peep this for myself.

Is Brad's audio funny for anyone else? Seems like his mic keeps turning off and he's been picked up by Dan and Jeffs.

Definitely going to get this on PS4. That local co-op looks like something fun and crazy to do with the kids.

Why does Super Stardust not exist in this alternate GiantBomb universe in which twin stick arcade shooters are scarce? This looks f'ing awesome with the 3D shaped levels!

Not a fan of the shoehorned-in-seeming upgrade system. Not every game needs to have an unlockathon, game developers :(. The game seems great fun otherwise.

Didn't know GeoWars Evolved was on Steam. Immediately bought it then was let down by the lack of leaderboards and achievements =\

Looks pretty fun, I hope the PC version is good.

Pacifism in the 2nd game was the peak in this series.

Oh man this looks sooooo good. I cannot wait to get it later this week. I've been wanting something like this for months, and seeing it in action it just looks like everything I was hoping it would be. Sit down at my PS4, play some music from the USB and just GO. What a way to while away the hours.

Yeah. I loved the beginning "just play some damn geometry wars!" Love Jeff on Brad quick looks because he stops him from just talking over a menu for 15 minutes.

After seeing what is in classic mode I am completely sold on this game, buying it for the xbox one and ps4. I was interested in the campaign mode but was worried we wouldn't get straight up scoreboard levels. So happy.

To be fair, and as someone who liked Geometry Wars: Galaxies (the Wii one), that game actually came out one year before GW2. Geoms, Upgrades, and minions, along with the adventure mode stylings, all came from that game. Was pretty enjoyable. Anyways, GW3 looks incredible. So there's that.

Based on that main menu this is a Halo game.

But I still have my Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved machine plugged in.

Those cube levels don't look great, but the rest seemed pretty cool.

At this point, they all do that except for maybe @danryckert, who seems to make the conscious choice to start games fresh for the QL, which I really really appreciate. I went back recently to watch some older QLs and god they're so different. Yeah, sometimes they've played a lot of the game and they're informative about it, but they're way less interested in telling you exactly how the controls and mechanics and modes work and more interested in just playing the damn game and just talking about whatever comes up.

Also, this game looks like a weird hybrid between Geometry Wars and Super Stardust HD, which is a definitely improvement over SSHD and a downgrade of Geometry Wars pure, but I'm still super excited to buy this tomorrow.

Do the "classic" modes have local coop as well?

Well, to be fair to Brad, bad things tend to happen when he plays and talks and the same time, and people give him shit for that too.

Seemed like he was really having a hard time getting his thoughts together at the start of this video.

I'd prefer him making mistakes and dying 5 minutes into a quicklook than watching him talk over a menu for like 20.
