The HD rumble on the Switch works great. Never felt like the rumble was overly loud, and it rumbling along with the game felt great.

Have you tried the Trance Vibrator mode? You can put the joy-cons on your... body... and they'll vibrate to the music when you play with another controller.

It's an experience.

Now is the time to buy 100 pairs of joy cons to make my own faux rez infinite suit

Gonna be honest, Shinin' really didn't live up to the hype

As for HD rumble, it is indeed terrible. not only is it loud, the vibrations irritate my hands in a way no other rumble has.

Shake your body to the ground!

The HD rumble is perhaps a bit too intense, but I kinda like that aspect of it.

They really should have called this Newmines. And hooked up with Ubisoft for a The Crewmines. Personally, I'd like to see this remade for Doom... call it DOOMines. Or port it to 8-bit systems... LumiNES.

Edit: For real, though, Ben + Jeff QLs are quickly becoming my favorite. They play off of each other so well.

Watching this inspired me to take out my old PSP copy of Lumines for a spin. It's a strong puzzle game, but I still have two complaints:

1) Seeing new skins is the big driving force of Challenge Mode, and it takes FOREVER to do that. (My game lasted forty minutes, and I didn't see any new skins—and according to an FAQ, I got only halfway through the mode.) Challenge Mode is too long, is what I'm saying, and you have to start at the beginning every time. (I don't know if they addressed this in Remastered.)

2) You have to form your squares so long before the timeline goes over them for them to count that it messes up your timing.

@dave_tacitus: Puyo Puyo Tetris is difficult to say the least. Such a wide ranging flaw; has it even been addressed or fixed in later revisions? If it weren't for the dpad I think the Pro Controller would be my favorite of all time. You could knock a guy out with one, it's so solidly built.

Not played Puyo Puyo on the Switch but after Lumines, I agree that it wouldn't be a lot of fun. My Pro controller is only a few months old, although who knows when it was actually made.

I already have LUMINES Live on my Xbox One, but I am stoked to buy it on Switch; I love the mellow focus that comes with a good, lengthy session of this game, and being able to play it portably on a non-PSP system is right up my alley. Now, who has the rights to Planet Puzzle League, and when can I get a new one?!

I'm torn between Xbox One X for 4K or Switch for portability. The Switch also has the negative of having a terrible d-pad which would be important for this game. Oh, and it's more expensive on the Switch, because of course it is. But, man it would be nice to play Lumines on a portable system again.

I laughed harder then i should have at that Lucy bit because i just re-watched it last night. Its a good film that is enjoyable if you shut your brain off and dont think about all the things wrong with it. The human brain should only use 1% of its capacity while watching Lucy.

As soon as Shinin' started playing I got smacked in the face with nostalgia and got transported back to 2005 playing this in the back of my parent's Honda Pilot.

OoOof.

Nothing about the Switch's d-pad is bad for how this game plays. I feel like most people don;t understand why certain d-pads are bad for certain games. And it's not more expensive on Switch.

The weird thing about the load times, they are the same on the PC version installed on a SSD. It makes the missions unplayable for me, especially since I am bad at it and you have to load every time you restart. I really hope this gets a patch.

Watching this video gave me zero idea of what it's actually like to play. I'll skip this, just like every puzzle game. I wish there was a way to convey these sorts of games better.

What region do you live in? It's certainly more expensive on Switch (£13.99 compared to £11.99 for Xbox and PS4 and £9.99 on Steam) in the UK compared to other platforms.

This game in endless mode is euphoric in a way that few games are. Saving a screen with the special block and continuing your run is one of the best feelings in puzzle games, and this game does that well.

When the skins change and all the sounds, the rhythm of the sweeper, and visuals change, it can actually really fuck with your brain when you're in the mode, in a really cool way.

The new "clearing-block" originates from Electronic Symphony on the Vita.

Also you should use the bumpers to rotate blocks, it's way more efficient and easy to understand.

If I remember correctly, pressing down is important in this game, and the pro controller has problems with accidental down inputs when pressing left and right. The joy cons might be fine, but that's not how I like to play when the Switch is docked.

Like most games, Nintendo's eshop prices in Canada are higher for the same game than they are on the Xbox store. It's 18.89 on Switch and 14.99 on Xbox. It's not a huge difference, but there's no reason for it, so I hate paying it.

I'm convinced that most people only think of the PSP version of Lumines as the "best" because it was the first one they played. I like the Xbox 360 Live Arcade the best, probably, even though the 360's D-pad isn't great.

I had the same experience - but you can luckily turn it off in the options. Within 5 minutes of playing I went straight in and turned that shit off. I played a tonne of Lumines Live on the 360 and never really felt like the rumble was beneficial to the game, as long as you get the audio you still get that Lumines vibe!
