I'm really loving it so far. And the changes to the EXP Share item are neat, because players who might previously have been put off by a need to "grind" levels now no longer need to do so. I've turned it off because it doesn't suit the way I like to play, but I'm looking forward to having it around post-game when I want to level up and evolve a whole bunch of critters to fill out the Pokédex.

I came for the pika, I stayed for the cockfighting!

The unnamed "Fly" Pokemon that appears when you use the HM shall now be known as Birdatu.

Really wished I had a 3DS, been years since I played Pokemahn, and I'd love to play it again, it is good fun.

I ended up blasting through the game thanks to the torchic, level 85+ by the end of the game.

Haven't seen the whole video yet, but I hope they find out that you can use the d-pad to just walk.

Also, I've been enjoying this game a lot. Was kind of falling off of Pokemon, totally skipped Black/White 2, but this is new enough with enough of the nostalgia to it that it's keeping me going.

1st, Brad, why bring up rodents eating feces?! Seriously, was it worth it to bring up that random fact you saw? (ugh)

2nd, It doesn't look like I am missing anything not playing Pokemon.

Jeff makes a good point. The vagueness of the effect of buffs and debuffs is a very strange holdover from the original games.

Watching this I wondering why they just don't use the D-pad to walk/run instead of using the roller-blades... then I remembered that they never tell you and it took me like 1 hour to figure it out :p so no harm done XD

Still eagerly awaiting my copy of the game, it's supposed to show up today. I think I'll have to hold off on watching this until I've put some time into it myself.

They finally *do* add the option to drag Pokemon to different slots via the touchscreen and they fail to notice. I guess there are so many other janky holdovers from generations past that it's easily forgivable.

@larrydavis: just because its for kids doesnt mean its exempt from being able to improve in a 20 year time span. besides it being prettier, the only thing new or different from the original red/blue games seems to be that there are minigames you can play with your pokemon now and the xp share.

I've fallen down the hole of grinding out EV values through the Super Trainer and now I can't get out. Send help.

@purplepartyrobot: What if I told you that later on, it takes 5 minutes to EV train a pokemon fully, and it doesn't use the super training at all? Have to beat the game first though.

Just to be clear. The circle pad controls the rollerblade movement and the d-pad allows you to walk.

The improvements they've made are great. Though I haven't played a Pokèmon game since Diamond - they've sped up the initial grind which is a godsend. Only played for a few hours and already have a team at level 20+

I have only ever played the original red version and when I was pretty young. It's one of my most fond memories in gaming.

Pokemon X/Y is leaps and bounds better in every possible way. It's the first hand held game I've played in almost 10 years that I have found fun enough to play constantly. It's funny, stupid, clever humor if you look for it and talk to the npc's is great. It also looks pretty damn nice in some spots.

It's just good fun all around.

@myniceicelife: that, and all of the other misinformation is really, really frustrating to watch.

@jeff Registering an item in the bag allows you to quickly access it with the Y button. Also using the D-pad to move removes the skates so you can walk/run around :)

I feel like I already played this exact game... over 10 years ago.
