Given where the series goes, the first Rambo is not a kill-a-thon. It's actually much more psychological, and the later films are classic 80's action movies.

I believe the name that Vinny is trying to think of at the beginning of the Quick Look is Killian Rain Smith.

To be fair, Duke Nukem Forever, for all of its flaws, has somewhat competent gameplay. Like, I can see a hypothetical person dropping $40 on that game and coming away satisfied. This, this I can't reconcile in my head how this even deserves to ask for that much.

Watching the beginning part, I'd believe it if it was an iOS game...

This game, ironically, is actually more faithful to the original novel where Rambo straight-up MURDERS all of these cops...one of the instances where the movie is actually more nuanced and interesting than the book that inspired it...

I like how they were able to get the license for Gary Shandling's face as Rambo.

I was pretty baffled each time this was featured on PSN blog and only getting praise for being a faithful presentation of Rambo. I know you can't just blatantly call it hot garbage, but, eh...just don't feature it all-together, maybe?

Naturally it made for a good QL, so there's that!

This game is expendable.

But does it end on a good...cliffhanger?

Because someone has to ask: Is there a polygonal young David Caruso in this game?

The true challenge is playing this game without hating yourself.

Having watched this quick look, I am of the mind that Jeff and Vinny decided even before playing the game that they were going to trash it completely, while disregarding any of its merits.

Does this game look particularly fun? Not really. But, then again, there doesn't seem (at least from the quick look) to be anything egregiously bad about it. At worst, it looks to be an average on-rails shooter, and a functional one at that.

Between Alex's coverage and this quick look, I question why GiantBomb had to waste time trashing a passable video game for the sake of humor. I suppose this video serves as another example of gaming journalism at its worst, when the internet comes together collectively to tear down something that, in the end, is not as horrific as it is made to seem. And, sadly, there were probably developers who, with a limited budget, actually put effort into making this game, who now have to face the internet's hive-minded, regurgitated scorn.

Why does this exist?

First Blood Part II. Now that was a video game.

First Blood is one of the best films ever made. Seriously, the way it deals with PTSD and returning veterans and whatnot is fantastic. Stallone's speech at the end is heartbreaking. If you haven't seen it, you really should. Also, it's filmed in beautiful Hope, BC, so that's a plus.

The other Rambo films, however, are just pure fun.

Front-Runner for Giant Bomb's worst game of 2014?

@slightlytriangularrectangle: No, I think they were having about the right amount of fun with the game that it deserves, especially for the price. As a huge fan of the movies (First Blood, at least) and seeing the crude excuse for gameplay, I think everybody laughing at it is completely justified. If you're gonna choose this game to get up on that soap box, I can't imagine you're gonna change that many hearts and minds.

Thank you for taking a look at this guys; though it goes without saying you should never judge a book by its cover I had sneaky suspicion about this game. Though this makes me ask- does the industry think it is OK to put games out of this quality or do they think we are asking for this?
