Quick Look: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D

I'm holding out for Revelations, never was someone who liked mercenaries mode when it came to RE4.

The aiming looks really bad and the voice samples and effects sound atrocious. No thank you.

Love Resident Evil, couldn't care any less about this game. Shame too, because it looks like they've managed to pretty much fit RE4 on a DS, which presents a lot of potential that completely goes untapped - just throwing out a full-on mercenaries game based on a game mode that I never bothered with in the first place is not a sale for me.

Not going to lie: At $40 this is a horrific ripoff regardless of how they spin it. I like Resident Evil, and I like the Mercenaries (at least, I liked it in 4. It was alright in 5), but this is about $20 too much for something that was clearly shoved out the door as quickly as possible to take advantage of desperate 3DS users in need of something to play after they finish Ocarina of Time. Not to mention, the whole save system thing makes buying it used such an unattractive option. Vote with your dollar. Don't buy this game.

The thing is is that The 3DS' slide pad is much more comfortable than the PSP's analog nub. Better placement and it just feels better. Plus, you can use the touch screen to substitute for the missing 2nd slide pad.

Plus a good chunk of PSP games were console ports where the games were designed to be used with 2 analog sticks and the PSP substituted the four shape buttons (or something) for one of the sticks, which was just awful. On the 3DS they're forced to make control adjustments to fit the dual/touch screen, which mostly eliminates the problem. But wait until the FPS or 3rd person style games start coming out on the 3DS and I bet you'll hear complaints, even a touch screen can't substitute for an analog stick.

Also there hasn't been a chunk of DS games that forced you to use the Dpad as the camera buttons. Or using the face buttons as another joystick. The fact is the PSP wasn't properly built for a lot of the games that were made for it.\

And to directly respond to Cynic04 in particular, there have already been FPS's for the DS. Metroid Prime Hunters to be specific. And the touch screen worked pretty much like a PC mouse would. So, yes, a touch sceen actually can substitute for an analog stick.

Except in doing that, you limited yourself to one button.

So it's really only if I want RE4 gameplay in 3D and portable.

Capcom is so lazy. This should not be a full game, they just took the worst part of the recent RE games and pretend it's a new game.

meh.... i would much prefer a full RE game instead of just a stupid little bonus mode.
