Quick Look: Rock Band Blitz

This seems like its cool if you already have a significant investment in RB DLC and whatnot. Makes me want to play a new Audiosurf if its as cool as this and I can mess around with my own music library.

Ryan does tend to wait too long on the menus to show off his games, which is meaningless here. Although once Jeff started explaining it I got it.

@eccentrix: You kinda had to be there in the chat as it happened, but I daresay Jeff's behavior throughout that livestream qualified as trollish.

I not usually fond of Ryan's menu love, but for this game showing the controller and all of the song challenge stuff made a bunch of sense. I had no real idea how this game played until the quicklook. I'm pretty damn excited to play this as I have 427 songs in Rock Band (minus the 83 for RB3) So glad the games achievements reward people that stuck with previous RB games.

Well hey, I knew what the fuck was going on by the end of it, took like 12 minutes, but I got it.

My roommate is playing Persona 4 and listening to this Quick Look, and after about five minutes he's goes "is he seriously still just talking about the menus?"

Already got the points ready to buy this. Looks awesome.

I would consider buying this in a full price game context if it came with all the previous Rock Band songs. But as it is, I don't have any of those, so I have little to no reason to buy this game. It seems like this is more a way to get people who were already way into Rock Band back into Rock Band, than it is a way to get new players into it.

Looks interesting but so few songs will get boring really quickly.

Cool QL of a well-made game. I'll have to agree that the Facebook integration is a little unfortunate though. I generally don't enjoy any elements in games that require me to be involved in anything else than purchasing a game (and online verify it if need be). I made an obviously personal and subjective but reasonably informed decision to not get involved in the FB ecosystem and every person, game or service that is pushy or preachy about that sort of thing and seems to be forcing me to just make a fucking account is immediately suspect now. I even despised Tribes: Ascend for offering a meager amount of currency for liking their little FPS on FB.

And I'm not even talking about the whole 'real-name' aspect of this situation (that's not very scary just exceptionally naive: are all actors, porn stars, artists of any sort or fakers really going to be giving their actual name on a platform that's basically an advertisement-based medium? Of course not. That rule is just for fucking tools that don't mind their personal data being available to corporations). I suppsoe this isn't quite on topic but the concept really struck me as I watched this particular QL. Nothing wrong with the game itself of course!

Just to be entirely clear: the Achievements tied to DLC are 100 Gamerscore beyond what can be offered for any typical XBLA game. That is to say, 400 Gamerscore can be completed by just owning the core game, and an additional 100 will require DLC, for a total of 500 Gamerscore.

Man, I wish I had owned any Rock Band game at all. May get this if the RB Store has a lot of music I like.

EDIT: No Pet Sounds, no buy. Also barely any hip-hop, or really much I would like. blahhhh too bad. Also no Rite of Spring! lame. Would have gotten it for some good amount of classical or jazz, but "jazz" section on the store is absolutely hysterical and pathetic. London Calling and Doolittle would be pretty fucking cool though.

EDIT 2: I don't really notice Ryan going around in menus. It's never been a big deal to me at all.

Not interested at all. I am a huge fan of Rock band and Rock band this is not. Way to run a franchise into the ground. Good luck getting me interested in Rock Band again.

Well its better than Brad gushing over stupid minutia like TITLE CARDS or when he stops and oogles a fucking texture and goes on and on about it, he's one of the worst for quick looks because he plays them as if he's playing at home, while hes NOT hes playing with some seemingly random time allotment.

Jeff and Vinny seem to be the winning combination on these, and Drew is great too, patrick is one of the most annoying and makes the most unwatchable QLs on GB, unless theres Jeff to balance him out. It seems like even they(other editors) get extremely annoyed with patrick from time to time, which is great.

This game actually looks like a lot of fun and cannot wait to grab it. I don't have any of the previous Rock Band games on my console, so I hope the initial 25 song list will be good enough for me. Also, it seems they did the Facebook integration the right way this time.

So... it seems like this game is not great to play on a 360 controller, but I bought all my Rock Band games on 360, not PS3, which seems like it has a way better controller for what the game is.

Let me guess, no way are they giving you song credentials cross-platform, right?

Yep, Pumped Up Kicks is a great song. I'd happily listen to it on repeat. Not much of a fan of Foster The People's other stuff though.

Indeed, why do we even pay for it? Just because we criticize some small thing doesn't mean we hate the whole site, or even feel that strongly about what we said. We're just saying what we think, being honest about it, you know, kind of like how the Giant Bomb guys are just honest about how they feel about games, for all the criticisms they have for games, do you also question why they still bother playing them?

This game looks awesome and it gives my DLC some use. I haven't played Rock Band in years.

If given the option between Green Day and the other, I'd much rather have 45 tracks from Green Bidet.

Game seems good for the people into this genre, I played more Guitar Hero at home & Rock Band at friend's home so guess that if I got this then I'd have none of the DLC so hard to tell how much would be left for those people but again glad that they are making this for people who do have a ton of that DLC for this game.

Look at the ellipses in that quote, they cut some of his key points. I mean it looks bad in a massive wall of text, but when he's explaining while the video is running I understood him - context is everything.

7m30s to gameplay. That’s got to be some kind of a record.

This is a video games website guys. We know how games work, please don’t waste all of our time explaining things like powerups in the menus.

If something needs more explanation, it’s far easier to understand a concept during gameplay where you can actually show how it works.

This actually looks a lot like the DS Rock Band games, which were different and kinda cool.
