The first QL ive finished in awhile.

I was just coming down here to say that. It's a weird oversight of what makes the WiiU unique, and it's surprising that he'd want to completely lose what makes the system special just for convenience.

Game looks super good, I enjoyed the first one quite a bit. Glad to see things like checkpoints and being able to access the bonus levels on the world map. And I think they've done an excellent job adding score hooks into the experience.

Now I'm just trying to decide if I want to get this now or hold out for the Vita version this summer.

Every time you try to turn off the Wii U, exit out of the game, exit to Miiverse and return to the Wii U menu, or anything that would result in this game software closing, the Wii U hard freezes. ANd the only way to unfreeze it is to physically unplug the Wii U.

I don't understand how that happens. You'd think at some point in the game's development someone would have attempted to close the software.

I'm sure the game is 60fps on WiiU. They're not going to put up a 60fps video, the file size would be crazy. Gonna pick this up today I loved the first one. Also fish balls.

@romination: I don't think having one negates the other. While not revolutionary in its implementation, AC3 allows for map and such on the Gamepad but also can do Off-TV, so both are possible. I have no idea how hard it is to use this feature in a game, but surely it's pretty easy?

yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say that Commander Videos character design (or lack thereof) plays horribly in polygon form.

Loving this game so far. I just got the last world, and wow is it pretty.

The retro stages in the first runner were very clearly riffing on Pitfall! for the Atari 2600, even down to gaving the Gaijin logo merged with a rainbow and visible at all times on the bottom of the screen.

This game's retro stages look like Wonder Boy running on a Sega Master System, though the cartridges are clearly famicom cartridges, and the "Winning Congratulation!!" message definitely betrays an 8-bit Japanese design.

Both games do kind of fudge it a bit, though.

You guys should definitely end all the Wii U quicklooks this way. Spread dem yeahs.

This same guy was playing through Ocarina of Time. He has a video where he goes through what exactly he's looking for as he plays it. It's insane.

Not usually a Patrick hater, but as Jeff has already pointed out to him before, making the gamepad remote play thing a requirement would have 100% eliminated any unique uses of the interface. His favorite game for the platform, ZombiU, would not exist and never could have existed with this requirement. Yes it's a nice feature and it's great when games support it, but please stop acting like it should be mandatory.

I have been thinking really hard about getting a WiiU recently, but seeing the comments about "not out in Europe" on the Miiverse makes me think Nintendo has learned nothing about store content. I have a 3DS, and being in Australia means massive delays for games on the 3ds shop, if we get them at all, at super inflated prices.

I'm re-thinking now.

Agreed... The system's only really unique feature at this point now is how the two screens can interact with one another. Just boiling it down to "Hey, you can also just kinda play this on the Gamepad" is convenient, but is hardly an inspired use of the platform.

Used to gobble down fish balls as a kid. At some point I just came to the realization that they were kind of gross.
