Quick Look: Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien

Just played the trial of this on XBLA. I love the general presentation in the menus and the like, though compared to the previous game the screen gets a bit 'busy' when you're actually running.

Was playing this last night, it's super fun.

I love that the quest is gone. I was getting pretty sick of those "Yay", "Cool!" and "QL!"-comments. Kudos to Aishan.

It looks like such a huge contrast from the original Runner games! But this new one looks even better than all of them!

While I'm happy Wii U users have a new game to play, I don't think it's for me. It looks fun to watch but playing it would bring out my Battletoads rage way too quick and no one wants that around my house...

I wonder if Nintendo will allow Reverse Merman fan art on the Miiverse.

Just to go with what @patrickklepek was talking about Runner being more of a Rhythm/Music game and not really a visual game, here's a video of a blind guy absolutely dominating this game (Runner 1)...amazing video

I'm not familiar with the older Bit Trip Runner games, so I don't know if the retro stages are an idea from Super Meat Boy (Warp zones) or Gaijin Games got that idea first. Cool looking game though.

All WiiU Quicklooks should end with them going to the Miiverse. Awesome video guys!

I completely disagree with Patrick in regards to off-TV play. Well, not completely, it's a great feature, but requiring every game to implement it? Terrible idea.

No game would ever use the gamepad in an interesting way, because the game would need to function without the second screen. And if the Wii U cant offer unique experiences with its controller, what would be the point to even owning one? It's weird to me that someone who considers ZombiU one of their favourite games of last year would want to completely marginalise the thing that provides the WiiU the opportunity to be unique and offer new experiences.

That is so awesome, that has me wondering how many games there are for blind people, a text based adventure completely spoken would be awesome.

Good quick look! Seconding the motion that all future Wii U quick looks end with a peek at the Miiverse! That's exploiting the strength of a platform to make better, unique content, right there.

100% agreement with Vinny, EVERYquicklook on the WiiU needs a visit to the Miiverse Wii Community to see what madness is there for that game.

Believe it or not, there are quite a few games out there that are great for blind people...Ocarina of Time for example

Go to the same guys channel and he has videos of him playing that whole game

I've played OOT so many times, but until watching his videos i've never realized just how many audio cues are in that game...everything link steps on has it's own sound (grass, wood, bridges) which is how he gets around a lot, plus striking walls with his sword to get a sense of his environment

It's a very fascinating watch

You should definitely start ending every Wii U quicklook with the Miiverse.

The voice shouting 'EXTRA' etc. when you grab a plus sign is just gone? Other than that it looks great, the first Runner was fun

You know what? I couldn't see Patrick's drawing process, but Vinny singing the Mario World theme totally made out for it.

@cdub901: Yea I subscribed straight away, this one really blew my mind. Really made me think how awesome it would be for LA Noire or Walking Dead or even Mass Effect to have a blind mode in it that skips all the gameplay for the talking\decision making parts, but I guess he gets his fun out of the challenge of making the impossible possible, I can't imagine how many hours he has put into these games.

Just played the PC version and this WiiU version looks a lot choppier. Lower FPS or problem with the capture gear / encoding?

I like that when Vinny needs to fill time he sings a SMB2 song.

I'm glad Vinny pointed out that Zelda menu sound, it was driving me crazy.

The ending with the Miiverse was pretty great.

I played about halfway through Runner before it started to get more rage inducing than fun. Will definitely pick this new on up.

Has anyone noticed that Patrick sounds a bit different since his Robotifacation?

It's still there, just different and also quieter, which is probably why you didn't hear it.
