Quick Look: Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien

oh god i was humming that mario song all day yesterday and forgot about it but now it's baaaaaaaaaaaack.

I really do hope they end every WiiU quicklook like that.

And Vinny humming the SMB2 theme was amazing. I couldn't help humming along with him.

Whenever I try to quit the game my Wii-U hard locks and I have to unplug it. Hopefully they patch that soon...

Edit: It's good to see other people having this problem as well. Well, not good...You know what I mean.

I love the 1st one, but I always end up turning it off in a rage.

Patrick did a good job talking and playing the game in this one. I'm impressed, as somebody who complains a TON about bad playing in quick looks.

Requiring every WiiU game to be playable on the controller screen would defeat Nintendo's purpose of having a controller screen. If you're using the sub-screen to play your game, then they can't use it to show anything 'extra' which was the whole idea of the thing in the first place.

@kerikxi: He wishes it was that way. For his purposes he would find that more useful and cooler than the second screen stuff.

I'm kind of the same way. I would rather have a kind of high-powered gaming tablet around the house than the usual gimmicky/extraneous uses of the wii pad.

That Miiverse part at the end was the best! :D

Everytime I hear someone talking about the Wii U all they brag about is how they just use the pad. Isnt that what the 3ds is for? Suckers.

Downloaded the game via XBLA and love it, so far. It's my first Bit.Trip. game and even though it is said to be easier than the older ones, I am thankful for adding checkpoints. This game really kicks my butt, but as long as I am enjoying it nonetheless, I won't complain ^^ Reminds me of the many fun hours I had while playing and dying in Super Meat Boy. Will there ever be a Super Meat Boy 2? I'd buy it right away...

I get all of that; I don't think Patrick really meant to imply that he didn't want to see things like what ZombiU did. I think what he meant was that if the game isn't going to do anything critical to the gameplay with the GamePad, then it should be allowing off-screen play. It's just not easy to apply that principle to a general policy.

To be more specific, ZombiU would obviously get a pass on that requirement because the GamePad screen usage is critical to complementing the action on the TV, but something like Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed (which just shows a useless map) or this game should be required to allow Off-Screen Play. Sonic does (though it has a weirdly hidden swipe mechanic to enable.) It would just suck if a game like this just showed like a NSMB-style second screen on the bottom like on the 3DS and refused to let you play the game on the GamePad.

Great game...tough on the eyes at times, which adds to the difficulty but a great addition to the Runner series. While it seems a little easier than the original, it could just be because the original put you through a no holds, no hand holding, gauntlet with no checkpoints or care for completion. Just as addicting though, with the addition of challenges and trophies.
