the amount of stuff Dan hasn't thought about concerns me. any land not owned by private owners or banks or corporations is owned by the government. you don't want to put a store on some land in the middle of nowhere in wyoming because there's no one around to patronize you, which is why there are more stores closer to cities. between that and the mortgage/house owning questions, I'm expecting the next question to be along the lines of "how does money work" or "what's actually happening when you cook something"

Is something seriously wrong with the site, or does nobody give a damn about The Crew?

Coming from a life long Minnesotan, you don't want to go to the Mall of America. Go to Minneapolis. You can have a great time there. Not at the Mall. Its bad.

@arawk: Don't even read user reviews for widely praised games or liked developers. Metacritic is pointless for that, stick to professional reviews on that site.

I got a good laugh from "Are there V40's?"

And as someone who grew up and lived in New England until I was 21, I find someone from Kansas calling NE boring pretty funny.

To @jeff's point about hiinks in a mall. I used to work at a Wizards of the Coast store during their brief existence. We would regularly hang out after hours to play counterstrike on the computer lan in the back and whatever game we felt like at the time.

Over time we attracted the attention of regulars we liked enough, friends from school and even a couple mall rats that were endearing enough to keep around. One in particular was a notorious shoplifter and one time got a cheesecake from a display case in a bakery and was going through the back hallways when mall security found him.

By some small mall security idiocy he managed to cover by saying he was working inventory and his mom gave him the cheesecake. Security asked if they could have some and he obliged albeit with a shaky hand.

After an hour he came back with half a cheesecake and gave us the story. This is maybe only the third most absurd thing that happened.

It seems like the game is better than Ubisoft made it seem. Shame.

I expected Driveclub-level shenanigans.

I just watched the July Unfinished they did for The Crew yesterday, so I'm interested in seeing if it fulfills the promise it showed. Although Jeff's comments on last week's podcast indicated that maybe it hasn't, which would suck because I was really psyched about a racey car MMO.

Dan does know that he's now working for a site where someone made an off-the-cuff remark about human breast milk and later drank breast milk, right?

I half expect someone to walk up to the next PAX panel and hand him a snail.

I wonder if Dan and Jeff knows what a Snail Trail is a euphemism for when they were discussing 'licking snail trails'. :P

what the heck is that map

It's a pretty big bummer because this game should be pretty awesome. Unfortunately the driving looks really shitty and they felt the need to cram a stupid story into it.

Can someone just make a game with a map like this, but with the gameplay of Burnout Paradise? That game was so fucking good.

Please don't look up 'snail trail' on the internet. Christ.

This turned out to be one of the best quick looks ever.

If this was really a Ubisoft game you would run over those deer to craft a new muffler.

Also the West Edmonton Mall is pretty sweet. There's a rollercoaster in it.

Judging from that map at the beginning, The Crew appears to be set in an alternate universe where Las Vegas is somewhere in Utah, or perhaps Wyoming.

A game soundtrack with Wolf Parade on it? Well, that's pretty cool. Disco Sheets is a pretty weird pull from their library too, considering it's from their debut EP.

The 370z doesn't feel like my 370z. The whole driving system just doesn't feel... right. Maybe I'll get used to it. Also the fuel light doesn't turn on for some reason and it bugs the shit outta me.

@winsord: They also have a song on here all about drinking beer--Cheap Beer by Fidlar-- which I feel is kind of a weird choice for a driving game. Good song though off a good album.

I wonder how someone coming for legitimate The Crew coverage (and has also never visited the site before) will take all of this poop consumption talk.

I'm just now kind of getting back into video games after about 12 years not paying any attention to them -- So when did it become super important to give racing games a really strange plot?

What I learned from this Quick Look:

Dan would rather eat jizz than poo.

Jeff's soul is one giant callous.

The Crew is pretty lame, and the fact that Jeff has to play games like this over and over explains how is soul got so calloused .

1. Miller Park is a great stadium to watch a Brewers game. I've been to about 50 games there. Great food selection, too.

2. Working in a mall suuuuuuucks. You have to keep an eye on EVERYONE who walks in your store to make sure no one steals. But then even if they do you can't confront them. And then when you call mall security they can't/won't do anything. Then you get in trouble because you didn't do anything. Fuck malls. (I'm still a little bitter I think)

To me this seems like an interesting version of Burnout Paradise. I know Jeff loves that game. I thought it was rather boring. I hated it. I actively dislike that game. lol Its not fun. okay I'm done. I think this game looks cool.

OK, I guess this went up just a couple of hours after my comment in the Destiny thread, acceptable levels of service have been resumed. :p

There are other handling models if anyone is hung up on that and the handling feels better as you upgrade the cars(obviously). I just stuck with the default handling and got used to it pretty quickly.

I definitely agree with the guys that the takedown missions are the worst. Holy shit were some of them frustrating. One of them late in the story made me want to throw my controller. I enjoyed the game though and the scale of the world is pretty crazy.

I find myself wondering if the "Eric Tsu" character is SUPPOSED to look like a complete weirdo going through a mid-life crisis, or if someone at Ubisoft actually thought that a 40-something Asian man with a 1970's lumberjack mustache and "Dumb-n-Dumber" bowl-haircut-dyed-neon-yellow actually looked good.
