I love Oregon Trail back in the day in school. Hell, I went to a friend's house JUST to play Oregon Trail! This game and all the different versions through the years are awesome!

I don't even know why I'm bothering to post about how crazy some of you guys are.

I think it's very clear he imitating rap/hip hop slang and not the actual racial slur.

Hey, Pat, of course they had colors that garish back in the 1800s! Humans have always been suckers for color. From the ancient Egyptiant painting all their stuff gold and blue, to the Romans with their circus-like marble statues (don't let their contemporary worn and white look fool you, those were painted back in the day), to ye olde America.

Consider the American flag, as seen on that there wagon. Red, white and blue, yeah? The colors of that flag didn't change over the last couple hundred years. They didn't design it pale and then cranked up the saturation just because more colorful fabrics became available, oh no. It's used the current colors all this time. The pale pinks you see in this game were probably bright red, and the tasteful greens and blues probably equally shiny. People loved their colors back then. We just don't know it because the only real remnants are so old they're practically grey, and any records from the time were naturally monochrome. Sepia, to be precise. That's why we want everything old Western to be sand colored, when it never really was.

Wow, this is quite the manufactured controversy. I have re-listened to the so called offending statement several times and it absolutely sounds nothing like the N word. He is joking about the medicine and then stumbles and muddles when he gets distracted by how clean the water is.
