@mrhollender:  You could not choose the attack hand in the PC version either. It used them one after the other (unless you were range/melee in which case it would use the appropriate weapon) and applied all bonuses of the two weapons to each swing or attack regardless of the weapon actually used. In the PC version you could drag and drop the weapon into what hand you wanted it to be in, but besides cosmetic, there is no difference.

On another subject this console vs PC posturing should equal a ban or something. Take that crap back to GameFAQs children.

Right now I have a desktop and two laptops on and in use on my desk. I'll be using them for most of the day, as I do just about every day. I used to do all of my gaming on the PC. After the SNES I didn't have a console at home until 2004, and that was a roommate's Xbox. I now do the overwhelming majority of my gaming on my 360, not because I'm someone who isn't into PC gaming, but because I want to get away from these machines for my recreation time.

I played some Torchlight on the PC, and liked it a lot, but burned out quickly. I think I'll enjoy it more on the 360 for the reason stated above.

That's because Jeff spec'd his character in a dumb way and is playing on Normal, which is a joke.

It's kind of a bummer hearing that the game can hitch up on the Xbox considering that Runic designed it to run on nearly any PC.

Yeah, I'm not go to say "he's playing it wrong!" or anything, because it doesn't matter how he plays it. But for the purposes of showing off the game, it does make it looks really repetitive because he doesn't use the extra abilities. Once again, not complaining.

And yeah, normal is such a joke.

That's the point I was trying to make. I don't care at all how he plays it as since it's his right to do what he wants, but for the purposes of the Quick Look and showing of the game to potential buyers, he spec'd his character in such a way that makes the game incredibly boring to watch and probably turned off a few people from picking up what is a pretty good game. Might as well be playing a Hold-Down-the-X-Button simulator.

The only thing XBLA version has over the PC version are leaderboards and gamepad support. Don't get me wrong, if I had to chose I'd chose m/k over gamepad but I'm of those guys who hunch over their keyboard so it's nice to sometimes sacrifice some precision for the comfort of a gamepad.

Anyone else disappointed in the performance?
The load times and talk of framerate problems is heartbreaking, not to mention not being able to use dpad in the menus!
Are Runic the kind of developer who would address these issues in later patches?

I'm 99.5% sure that Jeff picked up a purple unique about 4 minutes before the end and then never looked at it and I find that infuriating.

Edit: Ok I managed to pause on the frame and I was right. At 18:51, purple Mysterious Shoulders. JEFF! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!

Was not a huge fan of Torchlight. It was cool at first, but by the end I was just tolerating it. The loot was great, but after a while it became meaningless. I think Torchlight really needs an online component in future installments if it wants to remain relevant.

@Saften:   Yep. Any 360 user picking it up for the first time should be warned that Normal is way too easy. Go with Hard if you are unfamiliar with the genre. Very Hard might be too much at the start.

I'm not sure if you can switch difficulties on the fly in the console version. It required some save hackery or console commands to do on the PC. Take note that on 360 you may be stuck with Normal after sinking 5+ hours into it and start to realize there is no challenge there whatsoever.

I never finished this, I was pretty sure it will never end for some reason :P. I'm really surprised they released it on console, I think they did a good job with it, also Jeff you got a purple show it dude what are you doing? isn't there a potion to transform your pet to another pet? or was it to name change your pet?

Looks pretty good. But, I do have a serious question: This game seems a lot like WOW without the online component. Are there more differences between these two games that would not be apparent in the quick look?

For everyone wondering about co-op.

This version is for people who hate/fear PC gaming so much that they don't even want to give a game like Torchlight, that almost any PC will run, a chance.

Torchlight 2 is their Diablo 2 (so meta considering these guys came from Blizzard North) and you'll get your co-op stuff there.

It seems  the menu interface is the only janky thing about this port. Everything else seems fine, I hope people out there find enjoyment out of this. I still prefer the PC version.

@phrosnite: As opposed to the mindless hack and slash stripped of any illusion of meaningful choice that Dragon Age 2 will be? At least Torchlight is upfront about being about gameplay. Dragon Age was still pretending to be a CRPG for a while there.

Really? how...boring. Valid point though. If that's what most people play as it's reasonable to give the gameplay from that perspective.
