A primer on the Warhammer-verse...

Vanilla Warhammer 0K: It's a High Fantasy World, Perfectly Serviceable one of those. Also has two really good total war games attached.

Warhammer 40K: Way cooler than regular warhammer. Space Zealotry at it's best. Everyone is kind of an asshole in this universe but you would be too if every odd weekend involved a chaos incursion, an Ork WAARGH, a Tyrannid Swarm and a Necron Tomb World waking up at the same time. I don't think any character has ever smiled in any media related to 40K.

They're not directly connected and that's a damn shame. Fortunately, Warhammer 40K involves Earth and has the emperor of man, who was probably actually jesus? So that's fun.

Something something, Blood for the blood god?

Ahhhhhh no. The "Emperor of Man" was just some super-psychic dude from the year 30,000-ish. :b

Now he's a super-psychic dude who's the ultimate couch potato, plugged into his cyber-goth Game-of-Thrones-throne and pumped full of chemicals to keep him kinda-sorta-alive.

Jesus christ, the FOV is for maniacs and xenomorphs. Between that and the speed, this looks nauseating to play, even if the graphics have a nice feel to them.

Also, for the warhammer folks discussing the whole fantasy to space thing; I'm sure it's an interesting subject, but the rest of us don't care. It has the same name, one name suggests its in the future, and they both have goblins or whatever in it.

I have to disagree:

"...the Emperor was born on Earth during prehistoric times, somewhere in ancient central Anatolia (modern Turkey) in the 8th Millennium B.C.... As the millennia passed, the man who would become the Emperor watched the human race develop. He traveled the entire globe, watching and helping, sometimes adopting the persona of a great leader or advisor. In times of trouble He became a crusader, a religious leader or even a messiah." - from the Warhammer 40K Wiki which might not be the best source

They never say he was jesus... but he was around and totally could have been and i think that's a rad part of a fantasy universe!

He really is a couch potato now though, like comeon dude, do some physical therapy and get going again!

@president_barackbar: It's pretty directly comparable to ANY item level system, which MMOs have had for at least a decade before Destiny.

Destiny differs by not having actual stats generate that level but just using that arbitrary number as a gating mechanism. If you have less power than an enemy your damage and defense are reduced but if you have at least enough you do full damage and take only normal damage. Further increases in power do nothing.

In, say, The Division the item level is merely an indicator for what stat range an item uses. So a level 220 item has higher stats and generally makes you stronger than a level 200 one.

I really wanted to get into the first Vermintide but I made the mistake of buying the PS4 version which was basically unplayable. As someone who played a ton of Left 4 Dead this seems like a neat concept for loot and progression. Sadly a big part of L4D for me was the Versus play so it's too bad that there doesn't seem to be a mode for that. I still might want to get into this one but it seems I'll have to wait and see if Fat Shark got their shit together when it comes to matchmaking and general technical support on consoles.

the "loot boxes" are strictly just how they decided to do loot drops. It isn't like any normal loot box anyone should complain about. There is no buying them, its a reward for leveling and completing missions. Also, Destiny didn't invent numbers that represent power. Destiny stole that from WoW, so no reason to credit Destiny for that.

To say nothing of the gameplay, I'm disappointed by the number of factual errors and wrong assumptions in this QL... lately I seriously feel like I'm done with this site. Ridiculously unprofessional.

The chemicals he's being pumped with to stay alive are harvest from the life blood of a thousand daily sacrifices. So there's that.
