Giant Bomb Presents: Some Men Just Want to Watch the Universe Burn

Eyjolfur Gudmundsson is EVE Online's chief economist. Like real-life, its economy goes up, down, and has recessions. CCP even has an Internal Affairs department to regulate those with too much information.

Giant Bomb Presents is giantbomb.com's home for interviews, previews, and more.

The more I hear about EVE Online, the more fascinating and bizarre it becomes.

Some men just want to watch the universe burn. They call themselves Goonfleet.

That guy has the coolest name ever. I look forward to listening to this podcast, and all this EVE information is making me want to test out the game.

Dammit, I might have to sign up for an Eve account someday soon. Knowing that it's actually still growing this far along is highly telling to how transcendent this title is to gaming as a whole. Sounds like it's only going to get even bigger from here.

Thanks to you I decided to check EVE out. Pretty interesting so far and it makes me wish more mmos would use this method of where the game is basically a sandbox with many different systems for the players to use. I would love to see a game like DayZ implement some of the features in EVE.

Great interview, and I think this feature might be the best new thing on the site in a long, long time.

I don't think his name is Gudmundsson, I think it would be Guðmundsson. I'm being a little pedantic, but it's a fairly different pronunciation.

I keep forgetting to cancel my Eve account only to realize that I have a whole month now to play a little more.

As a student of economics, the ways in which EVE Online parallels society is remarkable. It's a shame, though, that it has such a high barrier to entry.

I'm fine with the music, as I find it to be a hilarious imitation of the music from This American Life. But I demand a better dumptruck noise! That's just a regular car horn!

This was awesome. Before Giant Bomb, everything I've heard about EVE was negative. Interested in giving it a look now

@spikey: Goonfleet/the CFC being the most powerful force in Eve for the past few years have also been the most stable period in Eve history.
