As a Day One Switch owner and one of the most frugal MFers on the planet, I held off on forking out for the Switch Pro controller until literally yesterday. I blasted through 150+ hours of BoTW with nary a problem using the joycon controller, but 95+ hours of Splatoon 2 made me realize I needed the Pro controller. I was getting similar cramping and lingering pain in my index finger and thumb after even just a single match of Splatoon. Bought the Pro last night, received it this morning, and have yet to experience a single iota of discomfort after a few hours straight of Splatoon. Sure, I've had it for less than 24 hours, but the difference is night-and-day, IMO. I wish I had bought it sooner. I can never go back.

To my knowledge, Abby was right about Lara. The rest of the guys were doing some weird combo between Laura and saying it quite right that they invented right there. It was funny but weird to listen to.

It sounded like he wanted to do it. I think they should let Alex play it if they do it.

Anyways, we all know it should be Shenmue II. Finish the fight.

It's not a bad UI. It's the equivalent of going from Android to Apple or Mac to PC. You're not used to it so it takes some adjusting but both are fine.

I honestly don't even understand the complaints about it, I've never had a problem finding anything in it.

Lollipop Chainsaw is a great game and Alex is wrong. That is all.

How the heck is the Lara name pronunciation even a thing when literally the last several games have had it clearly spoken by characters exactly how its spelled. L-AH-R-AH. It's not complicated at all nor is their any debate to be had. You say Lara or you say it wrong.

They should put out Half Life 3 with a new Pack, along with Portal 3 and call it Blue Balls.

As Vinny said there are probably different regional variations on how to pronounce the name, but Lara Croft`s name is definetly pronounced La-ra with a "soft" British English a, not Lair-a like Abby thought.

At least no one tried to seriously call her Laura. There was someone on the bombcast in the past (I think it was Patrick) that always said Laura and it drove me insane.

Its definitely La-ra and not Lair-a. She's english and that's how we pronounce it.

Abby is a god damn maniac. No fall or spring? Literally the best two seasons if you live in the northeast.

On the topic of Suda51's games sometimes feeling very "try hard" I believe a lot of that has to do with him moving away from directing over the past 10 years. Games like Killer 7 and No More Heroes 1 feel like they hit just the right tone in terms of weirdness because Suda directed, wrote and designed those titles whereas a lot of the Grasshopper's later games (like NMH2, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Killer is Dead) often feel like they miss the mark because they were made by people that were just trying to copy his style. That is the main reason I am excited for Travis Strikes Again because Suda is finally returning to the director's chair, which he hasn't done since NMH1.

Also as a side note, it is kind of crazy that a lot of people that worked on No More Heroes 1/2, who were relatively unknown at the time, have since moved on to work on hugely popular franchises. Yusuke Kozaki went on to do the character designs for Fire Emblem Awakening and Masafumi Takada later become the composer for the Danganronpa series. I wonder if these guys are returning to work on Travis Strikes Again in any form.

@odinsmana: fair enough on the exact differences there. I've heard it said by UK natives and maybe they had the accent that leads more to the AIR pronunciation. At least no one was saying Laura like the question. That was the important part.

I never can make sense out of what most game media types stay about system UIs. A lot of them praised the cross media bar.

Dan & Abby: lol I'd recommend the Best of Giant Bomb videos if you actually wanna see some funny stuff from before you joined and not have to crawl through thousands of videos in the archive. It's real good and will presumably help with the injokey stuff. But it's also relatively recent, so Dan is gonna see a lot of Dan in there.

In regards to GTA Online heists.

Heist Requirements:

• Must be rank 12+
• One player must have a high end apartment (cheapest is $200K, equivalent to a $5 shark card)

That all said your characters stats level up the more you play and your rank determines what weapons you have access to. If you go in with a fresh character it's going to be much harder.

The other thing that I can not stress enough is that while GTA Online is a lot of fun it is built on a system that is aimed at getting you to buy shark cards or grind missions. The online has a F2P model in which you pay $60 to get into.

Also be sure you are playing in a private lobby if you do not want to get banned for coming into contact with a hacker who dumps money on you.

Might just be me, but you guys seem kind of noncommittal when it comes to continuing Beast in the East.

There is no way anyone in the UK would pronounce Lara as lair-ah.

If anyone is interested in old X-COM, I would recommend skipping the actual old games and trying Xenonauts and its upcoming sequel. The community overhaul mod for the first game is really great as well. If you want a really robust, modern game that is more in line with the original X-COMs, that's where you should go.

How can the Lara Croft thing even be a question? It's Lara, "La" like "car". That's the way it's been said in the games since 1996 (and...it's probably a British pronounciation?). Everything else is Merry-o level of humbug.

Laura is just a much more common name for Americans I think, so it makes some amount of sense to go there, as it were. And name pronunciations are just different depending on where you come from. I'm an American, and my wife is Australian, and she finds it absolutely crazy that I think the name Harry and the word "hairy" sound exactly the same. Or that Craig rhymes with Greg to me.

The crew is in for a rude awakening if they ever do decide to try out GTA Online Heists without someone who's already in the know. You need to have a high-end apartment, which costs a good chunk, then do an intro heist, and also have cash to front up in order to start one. Only one needs to be prepared, but there's still a requirement. I wanted to play the Heists more than I ever got to. I just could never keep 3 friends together to finish the whole thing. It was either that someone had to leave before we did the actual heist (and therefore only did the mostly-boring setup missions), or that we happened to have more than 4 people together so we didn't do the heist and instead did other activities so as to not exclude anyone. The result is that I only ever did the first heist.

I kind of agree with Abby about the seasons. I fucking hate the in-between, wishy-washy weather where it's slightly too cold to not wear a sweater but slightly too warm to keep it on for long. I walked to school for my entire schooling career, and there were so many times where I had to wear a sweater in the morning because it was too cold, but took it off the second I got in the building because it became slightly too warm. And then I was stuck carrying around a sweater I wasn't using for the entire day. Give me cold or hot days. That being said, though, fall is my favorite season aesthetically. I just wish we weren't in the current climate where it practically stays hot until mid-November.

Lara and Ubisoft. We will never know how these things are meant to be spoken. Until the end of days.
