The Giant Beastcast: Episode 36

Well to counter Oni, I thought this was one of the most delightful and hilarious podcasts I've listened to in some time. Loved it.

It should be noted that the actual Hartford Whalers goal song was pretty great (& sounds like a The Price is Right B-side), RIP

Is this the first time the Beastcast has been longer than the week's Bombcast?

I don't know what the original episode 36 was like, but this was by far the funniest Giantcast I've ever listened to. Bravo!

This episode of Beastcast is art. That is all.

In the Pokemon TV show, the Meowth that accompanied Jesse and James was able to talk. There was even an episode that went into how it happened. He was an alley cat who fell in love with a Persian that belonged to a rich family, so he taught himself to talk in order to impress her (she still snubbed him when he tried to confess his love). Somehow the time and effort he put into it made it so that he wasn't able to evolve like other Meowths. I don't know how they'll justify a Pikachu being able to talk, though, since they need to use an item to evolve in the first place.

Vinny is at the top of his game in this episode. What a treasure he is.

Am I the only one who knew exactly what Vinny was talking about when he was talking about "trash bear"? I love that cartoon!

And like you said, their passive Wonder bonus is only good if you keep rerolling your starting area until you actually have one nearby. If you don't cheese the game, there's like a 50/50 shot that your starting area is totally unremarkable and the nearest Wonder is on some nearby island that you won't get access to for a while, and then their trait is doing absolutely nothing for dozens and dozens of turns.

Spain is either really good or really bad, and I tend not to like Civs whose worth is so RNG dependent.

I'm not sure if they talked about videogames in this podcast...? It was heck of a ride, though.

@austin_walker Ontarion (Ontarian? I'm from Ontario) here. Newfie is definitely a totally okay thing to say. Like any other culture, they've got their quirks/stereotypes (accents! fried bologna! they drink a lot!) but it's always mentioned hand-in-hand with how friendly they are and how straight-up beautiful Newfoundland is. No one is talking shit about Newfies just because of where they live and to hear it thought of as even possibly offensive was a huge surprise to me.

Mon ami Bo... my god. I was doubled up in laughter at that. Fucking gold. This was an amazing podcast. You guys had a setback/late recording and yet still delivered one of the best episodes to date. Bravo.

I hadn't watched that Detective Pikachu trailer before listening, and having just rewatched the BBC Sherlock series a few weeks ago... that song in the trailer is literally just the theme from the show, with like two notes changed. I swear. It's practically the goddamn same.

That Pikachu detective trailer uses discount Sherlock music. What the hell is happening at nintendo?
