Edit: I think you may also have to replace the thermal paste on the processor, to stop the PS4 from making so much noise. Obviously the optical drive will still spin up if you're using a disc, but otherwise the combo of shell off/blow out/thermal paste works best. SUPPOSEDLY, I have not done it myself, but it makes sense. Feel free to eviscerate me though, by all means.

Disassembled my launch PS3 3-4 years into having it as the GPU was dying from overheating and the rumored fix was to replace 'cracking' thermal paste. The interior was just fascinating. A giant fan pushing air in every direction, because it was basically surrounded by a heatsink.

Got a few extra months out of it, so I counted that as a win while I got my PS2 out of storage.

It's a bummer that Shadow Complex and Hitman Go will not be playable on PS5 thru backwards compatibility, luckily just about everything else will.

Just wanted to say that I found the way that Jeff was talking about his daughter at the beginning was very cute. The way his voice became noticeably softer as he talked about her was very endearing in times like these.

It's really funny when I hear Jeff talking about Call of Duty, because he loves the games in the series I dislike and vice versa. I understand where he's coming from but I've really enjoyed all of the Black Ops games and largely disliked all of the infinity ward games.

As someone who has played the series for over a decade Modern Warfare's design decisions to make the game very easy and fun for brand new players ruined it for veterans. Extremely low TTK, slow movement and powerful static explosives to reward campers, as well as the extremely aggressive skill based matchmaking that makes veterans feel like they're playing gamebattles every round. It wasn't fun.

@nantukoprime: This makes me kind of want to take apart my 360 that has been sitting in a closet for the past 7 years and I have no intention of selling.

Diclofenac, it’s an NSAID like ibuprofen and naproxen. I prescribe it in a gel form for arthritis, especially knees. You can get it in a pill form though.

@vinny@brad The stuff i buy is Gallium and Indium. The reason you'd do that is the thermal conductivity is way way way higher compared to paste. They measure it in 'watts per meters kelvin' (how many watts of heat is pushed through an area) and as a comparison Air is like .005, Arctic Silver style paste is between 5 and 9? w/mk and something like a Thermal Grizzly product (https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/produkte/25-conductonaut) is 73 w/mk.

Its a rotten pain in the ASS to use, it can drip, and since its electrically conductive if you F it up, you break your stuff. Sony has it in this little... well? looking depression to make life easier. Either way, with liquid metal HEAT GO BRRRR

Brad is incorrect when he says you have liquid metal under most PC cpus, Intel is famous for using bad TIM under the heat spreader ever since Sandy Bridge. AMD recently started soldering the heatspreader to the CPU again, giving you much better thermal transfer properties.

Liquid metal is currently used by enthusiants especially on Intel CPUs to replace that crappy thermal paste they use.

The PS5 is unique in that it's the first massively produced conseumer device utilising liquid metal. The only other products utilising this are some high spec enthusiast laptops.
