I really hate Jeff's overall attitude about NXT being "It's developmental so nothing matters and you shouldn't care.". They've actually taken time to create characters that you CAN care about and matches to look forward to much more than WWE has over the last few years. It's more than " Sheamus and Orton are wrestling for the 10,000th time. Why? Fuck you that's why. And don't root for anyone that wrestles Cena because he's gonna lose every time and make you feel stupid for doing so."

I'd actually love if NXT became a totally independent brand of WWE because I would have a show I want and RAW could piss off.

I never find the state of WWE to be has horrendous as hardcore wrestling fans constantly claim that it is, but it's fun to listen to them generally complain regardless.

I also love that Austin Walker, a man working on a goddamn dissertation to become a goddamn doctor of some kind, is into wrestling. You're supposed to be the smart one! Unless you are going to become a doctor of Thuganomics, in which case, I look forward to your contributions to the field.

Charlotte would be the Barry Windham of a female 4 Horsemen group, not the Ric Flair of it. I wish people could forget for a second that she's his daughter and realize that she is nothing like him.

@danryckert Riker totally comes on DS9 too! And Worf is way more of a bad-ass.

DS9 is basically a TNG spinoff, you should totally watch it.

@kingpk: Yeah, Jeff's attitude towards NXT doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. He seems way too concerned at looking at it all through a business lens. Good wrestling is good wrestling. It shouldn't be hard to get invested in good wrestling. Who cares if it's "developmental" or not?

@smokepants: To be clear, I wouldn't want her to be a part of an all-female Horsemen. I would want her to be the head of a horsemen team that has male wrestlers. She doesn't have to be the same character as her dad, but it wouldn't hurt to use that to propel her character until she gets her own footing.

I have to agree with Dan, I BADLY want to watch Lucha Underground but I really don't want to watch it by match, I wanna watch the full episodes.

Of course it was Scott Steiner who brought a tiger to the ring.

I recently played through Def Jam: Fight for NY again for the first time in about a decade and it's still fucking great, holds up really well and I love Hip-Hop too!

Jeff can diss the N64 AKI games all day long but you can't besmirch Fight for NY, it's too good.

@milkman: I can see where Jeff's coming from. Just look at the how call ups have affected the show last few months:

NXT Unstoppable ends with Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens having a stare down. The next week the show ends the same way. This all leads to . . . a one off match that ends in a no decision that causes Samoa Joe to cut a promo about not being satisfied about the finish and (to the best of my memory) the feud never being addressed in any meaningful way on NXT again.

Was that really the plan going in? For Samoa Joe to have a non-title match with the NXT champion then have meaningless matches against the guys Baron Corbin usually beats in under 30 seconds before facing Corbin himself? Or did they have to drop some things to start the story of Owens losing the title (since he was going full time main roster)?

Then there's the Women's division. Bayley was out with an injury for a bit. Before that some of her previous matches involved her losing one on one to Emma and Dana Brooke. Cuts a promo about how she's coming back and she's gunning for the title. Now she has a title shot a month later.

It all seems incredibly rushed (she earned the match over the course of one TV taping) and it seems less like a decision made for the sake of storytelling and more like a decision made because Bayley's the only one out of the big 4 that's left after the Diva's Revolution.

All that doesn't mean that the show can't be enjoyed. I still loved both of the matches Owens and Balor had for the NXT title and I expect the match tonight is going to spectacular as well. While the behind the scenes reasoning for accelerating the Bayley story may have taken away from the build the contract signing more than made up for it and I'm invested in seeing the pay off tonight. But people being moved from NXT to the main roster took away from the storytelling. It's something that can be expected, due to NXT being developmental. Some will be able to look past it and enjoy the wrestling. Others, especially those who are more in it for the story, won't.

What they are doing with the women's division is that they really want Nikki to break AJs record. Once that happens, I hope that they bring an actual storyline to the women's division.

@milkman: hint: Jeff actually doesn't care about in ring "good" wrestling in any shape or form. He's more interested in storyline (moreso the crazy shit that occured between WWE/WCW) which makes it even more insane that he continues to watch Raw.

What's so bad about what they're doing with Kevin Owens right now? It's almost a guarantee that he and Cesaro will have the best match tomorrow night. I think they're smartly pairing two guys together in a program that will only serve to elevate both guys.

I don't like wrestling. It's stupid and I'm not 15 any more. I'm an adult. But I weirdly love the Powerbombcast. LET'S GO!

Why is Jeff on this podcast? Jeff if you're done with wrestling just let it go, man. Every time you mention wrestling on a bombcast it's just to shit all over everything. I mean hey, I don't even disagree with most of what you have to say, but I feel like anybody who's listened to a power bombcast or a regular bombcast already gets it. Let your team do a power bombcast without you if you want out of the scene.

God damn you guys, every time I listen to a new Powerbombcast I end up watching wrestling again. Sounds like I need to watch Luncha Underground, really hope it ends up on Netflix or something because it sounds amazing.

I was really excited to listen to this, but then in the first few minutes they were already turning up their noses and shitting all over WWE as if it was a waste of time... and they felt cool about feeling that way about it.

So I shut it off. I just can't bring myself to endure it, especially when I'm so invested in the crazy world of pro-wrestling. Having just watched Takeover Brooklyn, easily one of the greatest shows I've ever seen, it just felt so wrong to listen to these guys dump on the WWE from atop their pedestals with judgmental, unabashed cynicism. Yeah I get that you don't like some of the booking and story direction, I'm there with you, but what about all the good things? Why is there such hopelessness?

Anyway, I don't know... Maybe they don't loathe it as much as it seems that they do, but the overwhelming negativity was just too much for me.

I've never been interested in wrestling until I started listening to the powerbombcasts, and I just bought the WWE Network for summerslam tonight.
