I love Remedy's games, it's really the biggest reason why I have interest in this game. Played Alan Wake a few days ago, and it's still great, though not to my surprise. This game seems to have gone back to the swearing. It's not major to point out, but Alan Wake didn't have any F bombs. Also, I didn't know this until a couple of months back, but I read (and not due to this game) that Shawn Ashmore is an identical twin, who is also an actor, Aaron Ashmore. Remedy said about the choices, that the end will be the same for everyone.

@visualizer: FMV usually refers to pre-rendered cutscenes that aren't made in the actual game engine.

I'm guessing because they only had two 20 minute blocks Drew had to cut the bit where it is revealed a young Justin McElroy wearing a futuristic belt device is responsible for all the chrono-chaos.

I've done a full 180 on this game. I had zero interest until watching this. Seems like Alan Wake, but better. I can dig an interactive, dumb-yet-self aware scifi show.

So what actually is the difference between FMV and a regular cutscene?

As I understand it, FMV has real people (like a scene from a TV show) and a cutscene is either in-engine or pre-rendered.

As a sound designer, the heavy use of stutter effects in their music is killing me. It sounds so similar to some of the weapons sounds, and is mega distracting. I get it, stutter-edit is rad and makes for good sci-fi sounds; but man does it detract from the overall experience.

Edit: I should note, the game itself seems interesting - it could be great, but, at the same time, it could be poor. I'm optimistic, but unsure.

After watching part 1 I'm not sure why everyone is so bummed out about this. I guess I just like cover shooters with fun gimmicks because this looks fine. Not like groundbreaking or anything, but a decent action romp and time powers are always cool in games. The negativity is especially perplexing when combined with this completely bizarre reverence for Alan Wake which wasn't an especially good game. The idea behind Alan Wake was cool, and maybe huge fans of Twin Peaks got some weird tangential kick out of it, but mechanically it was incredibly dull, a lot more dull than anything shown here anyway.

I'm not normally one to complain about writing in games but the writing in this seems awful. Maybe it's worse because it's coming out of the mouths well known actors but maaaaaan.

To me, the game has that dead Hollywood glaze to it and it might just be the dullest-looking cast of characters ever put together; But hey, this opinion is extrapolated from two videos so maybe it plays better than it looks and sounds.

Man I loved Alan Wake, everything from the audio/visual feedback from lighting enemies up to the campy horror stuff. Max Payne too with its hard boiled detective noir style.

This just looks dull.

The music in the combat is pretty on point, reminds me of the audio style from Remember Me. Seems to be a different composer however.

Looking forward to this, should be fun experience, if a little generic.

While this footage is not really blowing my mind, it has been over a year since I last played a new third-person shooter on a current console and I'm pretty sure this'll be better than The Order 1886 at least.

...except while typing that, I did remember Rise of The Tomb Raider. Guess that's linear-ish. Still, like said, it's not exactly too crowded with narrative-driven games nowadays.

Some of the effects are distractingly similar to the "XBox has crashed" sound as well :D
