Unfinished: The Golf Club 05/08/2014

Looks like a decent PC golf title. I am curious as to how that guy 'sounds Canadian' though. As a Canadian, I've always thought our stereotypical Canadian accent was the SCTV Bob and Doug Mckenzie Saskatchewan accent, not the lack of an accent you tend to get in Ontario or out here in the west.

Its more that, for Americans, its pretty easy for us to tell you are Canadian because there are some sounds that Canadians just make differently than Americans do. There's a subtle inflection on some words that make it pretty easy to pick out Canadians.

IIRC some hilariously in-depth science has been done on this very topic. Samples of speech from throughout Canada revealed key differences in pronunciation when compared to all regional US accents. Some are more noticeable than others, and though there are regional distinctions there's also often a sort of continuum, where pretty much everyone in Canada pronounces this phoneme that way, but those from this one area also lengthen the vowel sound, etc... I seem to remember they found one vowel sound being a reliable indicator for a Canadian speaker, regardless of where they're from, and on some rudimentary level that one sound is probably the "Canadian accent."

Of course they could have saved time and money by just saying they talk different.

@kingdanglerbk: there are a least 10 courses in Mario Golf even without buying any DLC.

I don't feel very good about analog stick control ever. The tactile feedback is never there for me. I like seeing a bar on the screen telling me how much power I just put into it because that's a clear sign.

The lack of landing grids is interesting though. I can see golf enthusiasts liking the challenge of grading slopes and predicting how the ball will land. I don't do well at judging virtual landscapes so having that landing grid is a great visual cue to let me know the topology of the virtual course.

I am really glad this exists, I dont really play golf but I do really enjoy playing golf games from time to time. There is a real zen quality about them. Its also good to have a real PC alternative to Tiger Woods which still looks like a game from 06. People bash other EA sports games for not changing enough over the annual releases but Tiger Woods really takes the cake when it comes to lazy iterations.

This game looks really promising, but still a bit too unfinished for me especially for 35 bucks which seems kinda steep for a game in this state. I will definitely check out its progress down the line

Looks pretty cool to me. Here's hoping that those objects have collision detection or we're going to have a fairway full of pissed off mini golfers

Everybody has an accent to somebody from another location. I used to think we had no accent in Michigan. But when I lived in Texas for a few years everybody made fun of my accent.

i was surprised none of them talked about hot shots golf when they talked about golf games. i loves those games and i played them in college with friends while we sat around and drank a few beers. were those games not well received?
