Unprofessional Fridays: 01/25/13

There's something funny about watching the cold economic logic of a SimCity game after Ryan raises taxes, but when it happens in the real world we laugh and make funnies.

this video seems completely bugged. Goes to gray screen after about 10-15 minutes (HD and High). trying to download starts at 4 hours and just goes up (no data is ever downloaded). Really want to watch it...

Likewise. I've always wanted to play it but.. that was just highly nauseating to watch. This seems to sum up the experience:

I imagine that's why they've had such a hard time green-lighting a sequel. It's not a game that would do well in test markets.

the Quicklooks and Podcast are why i originally came to this site but the Endurance runs and Big Live Live Shows are why im a subscriber. but once a year isn't enough and without the free Happy Hour shows theirs no reason for new visitors to want to pay and watch this "premium" video.

if only you could get a shorter version of this sort of content out there for non-paying visitors you would have all the subscribers you desire.

i believe this guy @TurboMan is the one that does best of quicklook videos, this sort of fits with what you want.

they should give him the ability to post these on the front of the site. or have the staff pay this guy to take unprofessional fridays in like a month and create a best of unprofessional fridays for x month sort of video

Man, the Giant Bomb Flight Club is the best thing that happened to this site. And it's all thanks to Drew.

I pretty much lost it when Vinny started losing control of the plane :)

The plane section of this video was the best thing I have ever seen on GB. Also, the end result had me in pain from laughing so hard. 2 thumbs up.

You know, watching this I kind of wish that Vinny's LoS segment would just turn into its own show entirely, with Drew sitting in.
Wouldn't be such a negative tone anymore.

It also matters a lot what type of person plays the game, Patrick didn't know where to go or what he was doing most of the time so he kept looking around like a manic and that's not very healthy for the eyes and brain but normal playthroughs have the camera pointed in forward and aren't as barf worthy.

The Mirror's Edge segment reminded of those messenger bags they sent for "pre-orders". Except they either sent or made too many, so we were supposed to give them away to anyone that bought the game. And when we still had too many left, we just started giving them away for whatever. I took two of those things.

@CptBedlam: 1. You're right. I could've sworn I saw his icon on the wiki with three stars next to it. Must have been the Splatterhouse review. It sure felt like a game he would review.

2. Rented it, beat it, and sent it back. I must be pretty skilled at that game. Forgiving bad game play is for people who purchase bad games. Or maybe I've just played too many good character action games before LoS.

Giant Bomb Flight Club is the best! I love how Vinny almost drove off the runway, but somehow, he managed to save it.

I'm with Brad, never ever gotten even slightly motion sick playing a video game.

This video is evidence that the flight club NEEDS to come back. I was almost sobbing with laughter when Vinny crashed.

A "Best of the Month" on the homepage for newbies to find would be great for the sites fan base growth.

Along with Random PC/Xbox game, this is probably my favorite new addition to the site, and the reason why I re-subscribed again for another year. Awesome work, guys.

I have to say, watching Vinny and Ryan rather intently following Drew's directions for probably 10 minutes was fucking great. It was so tense as Vinny taxied down the runway, so joyous when he actually took off, so terrifying as the inevitable happened, and I literally laughed until I teared up when Vinny crashed and changed into a tank.

And then Jeff played fucking Beverly Hills Cop. Seriously, Unprofessional Fridays is officially my favorite Giant Bomb "thing" ever.

I freaking love Too Human. I'm so sad I traded it in years ago. I got 99% of the achievements in that game. The only one I didn't get was the one for full epic armor which is reliant on random drops. Kinda like WoW farming. It was so tedious.

But, I'd totally play it again.

If they thing the Beverly Hills Cop game is great they should play Bad Boys: Miami Takedown. That game is something special.

Watching Patrick play Mirror's Edge was excruciating! Come on, man, get it together!

@TekZero: I'm with you dude. I loved me some Too Human. The camera sucked majorly but I thought the combat was surprisingly deep if not a little clunky. Luckily for me, I had friends that played Too Human way before I did and between the two of them grinded enough to have a full set of epic armor so I got that one pretty easy. Then again, by the time I got the achievement for 7,500 item drops picked up I almost had a full epic set myself IIRC. Either way, if you had the achievements for completing the stages without dying, everything else is cake. It took me nearly 4 hours I think to make my way through Ice Forest without dying. Those goddamn elemental, bullet resistant trolls...

I love the fact it's 2013 and we're still getting Jonny Mosley Mad Trix references.

@Brad good work, you worked in the iPhone (or in this case an iOS app) to this video. Please keep it up in all future videos from now until the end of time.

Please keep Drew's boring ass flight sims out of this feature.

Man, the armor in Too Human has always looked awesome to me. I'm really disappointed there won't be a second game to fix all the dumb stuff about the gameplay. I really thought it was interesting.

I wish I could, just once, play something with the Bombcrew. Just to show that Mirror's Edge is almost perfect in it's gameplay design, it's just not played the 'right' way.

Having one of them completing a mission and then having me do the same mission afterwards just to compare the differences and show how awesome that game really can be when you get good at it.

The way Patrick brought up the rightful criticism of his previous Michael-Jordan-baseball-career bashing reminded me of how idiots in high school cliques mock others while in a group. "Look at what these losers said! Give me validation! Circle the wagons!"

Maybe it's a small thing to complain about, but that's beneath him, and not normally how he acts. If you're wrong about something, you don't need to bitterly bring it up on camera with your friends to somehow give you legitimacy.

@zevvion: I know what you mean. I've been working my way through the podcast from the beginning while at work, and they all bashed on Mirror's Edge SO hard when it came out, and it made me SO mad lol. Ryan was just saying things that are not true at all, like "You can't go through the game without engaging in combat" or "It's too confusing when some things are red, but not EVERYTHING I need to step on/interact with isn't."

Fuck you Ryan Davis. You just don't know how to play, and this game is amazing.
