This is one of those quicklooks where I won't get to see the end of it for a while as I watched for a bit and went off to buy the game. Now I can't watch it until I've played it through.

This being part of the VRodeo show is bothering me more than it should. The presented format is just a regular Quick Look for a VR game. I'm sorry.

Dan really dropped the ball here. Pretty sure he's in breach of contract for failing to make a "Live Más" reference within the first five minutes of this video.

@void: Go ahead and look at the VRodeo tag then. This is far from the first one featuring a single game.

@dg_nick: But at least they had a green screen and/or face cams. I understand that the east office does not have the same possibility, but maybe at least face cams to differentiate it from regular quick looks would go a long way?

Yeeeeeah I saw this in the sidebar coming up and got excited, and then upon starting it was immediately let down for....many reasons.

Also, disappointing that this is another Sony moneyhat and that it won't be available outside of PSVR.

This game looks great. It's dissappointing when you hear people who have never really tried VR or tried VR in a 3rd person action game that "VR doesn't make sense for this style of game".

Chronos and Edge of Nowhere (Oculus) are fantastic experiences. They aren't as fleshed out as the AAA games on consoles, but they really showed the promise of incorporating VR into that style. Edge of Nowhere specifically showed me how awesome an Uncharted or Tomb Raider game could be in VR. It adds a depth and scale to the enviroment that you just don't see in the regular titles.

Is Abby wearing the space helmet version of PSVR? Her mic seems weird. That said, Abby is pretty good at demonstrating VR. Yes, Dan is awful, remembering his GBW vr sessions.

Just to counter the Beastcast claim that people don't like moss, Saihō-ji.

No Caption Provided

It's a temple in Kyoto that is "famed for its moss garden." There are known to be at least 120 different species of moss there, and it looks picturesque as hell.

It's also a World Heritage Site.

All but one has had in-studio stuff (or a minimum of PIP of the player), and ALL have been from the West Coast. This being from the East Coast and following a more vanilla QL style kinda breaks those expectations.

Thought TBH, I'd probably reserve "VRodeo" for those multi-game shows - I'm not sure you need something other than "Quick Look" when only showing one game.

Cool looking game, but this ain't no VRodeo. It's a Quick Look.

Kind of like how recording a show in the Bombcast booth on a Friday doesn't make it an Unprofessional Friday. It's just a video podcast.

But it's a cool looking game.

Exclusives are just super dumb in an industry that's still in it's startup phase. I'm not going to get a lesser VR headset just to play this game.

Isn't this more of a Quick Look than a VRodeo? I assumed Vrodeo was more of a VR + green screen shenanigans thing...

Edit: Appears I'm not the only one who noticed this.

Abby still has that thing where when she's trying to convince someone of her opinion, she's constantly approving herself instead of explaining in thought out detail of what she's talking about. That being said, I believe her, I just wish she kind of let the others elaborate a little more

I will never be able to enjoy vr since I'm blind in one eye. Yes you can close one eye but a big part of vr is depth and I don't see any way this could be fun with one blurry screen in front of my eyes. I hope they eventually have a way to do vr that doesn't require two screens.

That said this looks decent for a vr game the first few times they showed this it looked pretty lackluster but I also really like the narration.

Between this and RE7, PSVR is pretty tempting. This one in particular has a gorgeous look to it, the lighting in particular.

Also, these 'but it's not my idea of a VRodeo' comments are making me wince.

@efesell: It's a bit strange. GB is one company, it's not like they are competing Giant Bomb franchises on different sides of town. Unlike that super weird thing Patrick, Dave Lang and Max Tempkin were doing in chicago, sort of like an Unofficial GB but not really(which I enjoyed but it was still weird). Anyways, features shouldn't be relegated to only one crew. That said I think there should be another "Us Versus Them". Both coasts are basically back to full staff, a competition feature sounds like something I'd be into.

This game really looks unremarkable without the VR aspect. But I'm gonna take their word for it being actually really good in VR. Too bad I don't have a PS4, let alone PSVR.

The room with the book at the beginning of the game looks exactly like the reading room in the University of Washington library. I checked and the developer, Polyarc, is based in Seattle. Coincidence? Hmmm...

I definitely had to stop watching this due to motion sickness, really odd but yeah.

Game looks good enough but VR doesn't work for me sadly (I have irregular sight so I just get double vision in VR games).

I feel bad about bringing this up in the first place now after having listened to the latest Beastcast where they were clearly undecided about what to call it. But the thing is that VRodeo was specifically designed to cover VR games that didn't fit the regular Quick Look format. I know it's silly arguing about this. I'm sorry, Vinny and Abby.

You must have also missed when people got mad at the West Coast using "Play Date" on a few videos. People are odd.

@efesell: I kinda get it, we have had enough episodes of vr rodeo to get a feel for what it is. The same could be said about quick looks (obviously) with having a public schedule to hype people up I could imagine people being dissapointed or annoyed when they expect one thing and get another.

obviously it's not the biggest issue in the world but it's something to keep in mind for the GB crew

@steveurkel: I've seen multiple people with one eye ask if it's worth it over on the psvr subreddit. What I can say is that you do have head motion, so you get depth that way, by parallaxing. That's something you do not get on a flat screen. So there's still a benefit.

Also, everyone closes an eye to aim when they shoot, so maybe hang tight and perhaps there's a game where sniping or some other skill that's suited for you crops up. My hands are all jacked up from gaming, so the new input methods of VR were a godsend. I feel like there are people with all kinds of issues running around in VR these days. Lots of geezers with bad backs for sure.

It's well worth trying even with a wonky eye. To be honest, aside from the first 5-10 meters or so, everything in the distance appears flat to people with two eyes as well. The 3D effect is mostly a space from 30cm to 2 meters, after that it tapers off hard due to low resolution of screens. That doesn't detract much though. VR is much more than just the 3d effect :) It tricks your brain on so many levels. Our brains, as it turns out, are trickable.

Anyways.. I love VR. I hope you check it out and find a game you enjoy.

Yep, I feel the exact same way.

When I think of VRodeo I think of Jeff trying a group of various VR games.
