It's great that we have people telling the people who create the videos and features that they're naming things wrong. Who'd have thought that people would move beyond complaining about how they play games and onto how they name videos.

Can't wait for people to tell the people behind the site that they're not celebrating the 10 year anniversary properly.

On the topic of long staircases: I remember Xenogears had a dungeon that was one big vertical staircase and enemies would knock you off. You would fall all the way to the bottom and go through the dungeon again. I remember that sucking.

@steveurkel: I've seen multiple people with one eye ask if it's worth it over on the psvr subreddit. What I can say is that you do have head motion, so you get depth that way, by parallaxing. That's something you do not get on a flat screen. So there's still a benefit.

Also, everyone closes an eye to aim when they shoot, so maybe hang tight and perhaps there's a game where sniping or some other skill that's suited for you crops up. My hands are all jacked up from gaming, so the new input methods of VR were a godsend. I feel like there are people with all kinds of issues running around in VR these days. Lots of geezers with bad backs for sure.

It's well worth trying even with a wonky eye. To be honest, aside from the first 5-10 meters or so, everything in the distance appears flat to people with two eyes as well. The 3D effect is mostly a space from 30cm to 2 meters, after that it tapers off hard due to low resolution of screens. That doesn't detract much though. VR is much more than just the 3d effect :) It tricks your brain on so many levels. Our brains, as it turns out, are trickable.

Anyways.. I love VR. I hope you check it out and find a game you enjoy.

Thanks for taking your time and providing a succinct explanation of VR for someone who hasn't tried it and has been kinda not interested at all. My friend suggested I pick up a rift and I've debated on it but think I will wait for the next generation of the headsets (wireless please, and hopefully something better than Oculus comes around) to try it. I won't be able to benefit from a Vive so it would have to be a Rift or whatever else comes out in the future that doesn't rely on room scale.

I also get motion sick just watching them play some of the VR games, so I don't know how I would fare trying it myself. I have a problem using controllers also due to arthritis and osteo problems so don't know how it would be comfortable wise to hold the hand controllers they use either. I always assumed that the whole point of VR and the trick it used relied on 2 eyes so thanks for giving me a reason to look out for a place I can test it for myself.

After watching this I really want a open world rpg like Breath of the Wild but set in a Redwall type world- And throw in some Brambly hedges for good measure.

This is awesome and is something I had in mind when VR was first starting its modern era resurrection. The first phase of VR games were a disappointment; a lot of gimmicky stuff in the same vein as motion control had, almost all first person, nobody really trying to use it to make games better as such. Moss here is a step in the right direction.

People really quibbling here over whether this should be a VRodeo? This VR game shouldn't be on the thing made to show VR games?

Is this a bit?

Well, VRodeo typically features numerous games in one video feature.

West Coast has called it a Quick Look when they do just one game.

@chunkygerbil: They make the rules and the content. People saying "this doesnt feel right cause X" seems incredibly petty. While youre right that this is tame compared to other "feedback", it's still a bunch of people trying to tell the staff that they're categories are wrong as if the staff don't know the rules or discuss it themselves.

I love VR stuff, and I love VRodeo, but I'm finding it harder and harder to watch this content. I made it 7 mins occasionally looking at the screen before I became too queezy to go on. Thanks for making these videos, I just wish I had the stomach to watch them.

I'm with you. I know it's just an opinion, but I feel like Chronos is a pretty good game. I thought the VR really did help sell the experience.

This game looks great. It's dissappointing when you hear people who have never really tried VR or tried VR in a 3rd person action game that "VR doesn't make sense for this style of game".

Chronos and Edge of Nowhere (Oculus) are fantastic experiences. They aren't as fleshed out as the AAA games on consoles, but they really showed the promise of incorporating VR into that style. Edge of Nowhere specifically showed me how awesome an Uncharted or Tomb Raider game could be in VR. It adds a depth and scale to the enviroment that you just don't see in the regular titles.

Super Mario 64 has the longest stairs in any video game I'm pretty sure. I still haven't reached the top, and that game came out in '96!

It's not a VRodeo unless the person driving the video is teleported onto the set via movie magic.

You guy's need to get Microsoft's Mixed Reality. It is about $200 and you can play all of the games that are out on Steam and Oculus. Lucky's Tale changed the way I see platformers. I agree you can not see how good these 3D games look WITHOUT VR.

I wonder how many of the people saying they can name videos whatever they want have offered alternatives to Mass Alex.
