I think the game looks pretty shit, but I'ma sign up and do it anyway.

Oh, I signed up for it that way about a year and a half ago as it still uses my old email.

Don't worry. They will be starting up beta weekends in September where they will invite a ton of people to test the game. Hopefully we get invited then :)

oh dude the last phase was sooooooooooooooooo much worse. It literally took 18 hours to install on my computer while slowing my computer down so much I couldn't even use firefox on it..  This phase? 4 hours including the download.

Mine doesn't say that, signed up for this long ago too. I'm not sure if i used the same email i did for galaxies, ps2 everquest and planetside betas, as I got into both of those.  Or maybe they saw I didn't give much feedback and that's why they didn't  let me in this one.
 But I gave a lot of feedback for the quakewars beta, even had (cpl ?) matches to test it. But that game turn out not very good at retail.

Finally finished downloading and I can't play for another 10 hours because I have work :'(

way to get my hopes up...  still no invite going to the link.

No invite for me :( and I had signed up when it was first available.  

I got invited last week, just finished the 3 petabyte download and ready to play. I know I won't buy this game when it comes out, but I'll at least give some impressions.

I think a lot of you are misunderstanding the OP.  If you have your account all setup and go to the link your not automatically in the beta.  If your account was selected you get an email taking  you to that link, If you have been selected  you can download the client.  If you haven' t been selected you won' t be able to download it.  The Original Poster, got excepted, probably missed the email due it to going to a junk folder.  He was sightful enough to check the tester link which has just been waiting for him to Opt in. 
 
Make sure your beta invite profile is setup and that it has your PC's most current settings. I'm sure they are looking for testers of all different specs.

I'm playing as a girl, not thrilled with her VO :'( but it's not bad either.

@Funkydupe: Well it seems like a solidly crafted game, interface is clean and combat is crisper than most other MMOs out there other than WoW. It should do well enough between the strength of the IP and overall level of polish. Personally I've really enjoyed the stronger story focus with extensive VO, even if it's all static camera talking heads sort of stuff. I'm actually paying attention to the simplest quest text because I don't have to read any of it.

It won't be a WoW killer, but it also won't be a flop. The strength of the storytelling relative to the genre and the popularity of the IP should be strong enough to carry it to at least a million subs, probably 2 for at least a while. Of course I'm basing off of this off of ~1 hour of game time o_O plus an extensive history playing MMOs in general.

I signed up to the forums on day one, but i really cant be bothered with this game. I will see if my feeling change when it actually gets released

@Funkydupe: To a certain point. The game is definitely balanced to be playable start to "finish" by yourself and, if the story goes deep enough, should be enjoyable. You will get a companion character so you're never alone and they have a whole solo endgame planet for each class (or maybe just one endgame planet for all the classes, I'm not sure). Some time during this testing period I believe they're going to be giving each player a level 40 character to try out the endgame solo planets, maybe I'll take a look at it then as time permits.

I know that I'll primarily end up playing this game solo since my schedule rarely lines up with the schedules of my friends'. I really want this game to be KoToR 3-10 like they've been saying in all the preview coverage and so far, it looks like it might be. You'll just have to contend with the fact that sometimes you'll be fighting other players for spawns.
