Red Dead beat out WoW for a few days on here, so I'd say so if SC2 is on the system

If he means Giant Bomb, then probably if the Blizzard API also supports Starcraft.

This. So for the site to count it, I'm guessing there would have to be enough users on Giantbomb who bought it on Steam who would have to play tommorow. Giantbomb had 70 000 users last I checked(probably 80 000 now) many of these are duplicates/inactive. I'd say about 5 000 users tops on Giantbomb bought SC2. AFAIK the retail versions cannot be activated on Steam. A lot of people bought collector's edition and others waited in line for the midnight launch. I doubt over 2000-3000 Giantbomb users have it on Steam and are all going to play it tommorow.

It is quite unfair though, because Giantbomb tracks every WoW character as a separate account, meaning a player who plays maybe 10 characters that are being tracked on GB for 2 hrs(hypothetically) will add 10 to the played count while someone playing SC2 for 2 hours will still only add one play to the counter. At least I believe this is how it works.

TL;DR = I doubt SC2 will go higher than WoW on GiantBomb unless it can be tracked through bnet.

Oh, it's not even on Steam. Yeah, good luck with this then.

No. Unless they include the Korean stats and the European stats.
Starcraft 2 is a pretty core game and I seriously doubt Ozzy Osbourne or Mr. T would be the kind of people that want to play it.

you could guestimate the impact on wow play it has by looking at the average number of people that play wow regularly of the last couple weeks, and see how many plays there are for it tomorrow. It's  not exact science, but i would be willing to bet 90%+ of the plays missing from wow tomorrow will be because of starcraft 2. Then again people will probably still log into wow for a minute or so even if they are playing starcraft 2 for the rest of the day. I'm pretty sure I just unvalidated my original point. Whatever.

Nah, achievements are also tracked for each "character" in SC2, meaning that people here on the site will have to manually add theirs once GB starts tracking (serious multiplayer dudes will no doubt make several ones to try and keep "perfect" win/loss ratios).

That means they need to buy a new copy every time they want to make a new "character".

Oh man, such a hard prediction to make, the last time I saw a game beat WoW it was Modern Warfare 2. If I had to guess either way I'd say no.

Yeah there isn't any StarCraft/Battle.Net tracking on GiantBomb so you won't see it on there.
