So I just started my Steam account and it automatically offers me stuff in EURO (I live in Czech Republic), and I was wondering if there is any way for me to choose to pay in USD - it would be much cheaper. Thanks

You need an American credit card to pay in USD, you can't just walk into a shop and decide to pay in USD.

Hmm well I used my current credit card to buy stuff from internet in USD multiple times, it's just the steam offers me deals only in EURO. When I pay in USD on internet, the ammount is just substracted in CZK (local currecy) from my account. Same wit EURO and others. Problem is only at Steam's side, as I see it.

Your credit card works fine (and in every country & currency of the world). I guess Steam localizes via an IP range check. They detect that you are located in Europe and so you get the Euro pricing. A way around this could be using an US proxy server to create a new account.

No, they check your bank account origin. You can get someone to gift it to you - but make sure you trust the person gifting you the game!

possibly try having a friend set up a new steam account from the states. it may be as simple as the "what country are you from" question in the setup process of an account. try changing that (on your current account)  maybe it will have an effect. it could be one of a few things that lets them determine what currency to take from you.

Yeah I tried that before I started this topic - changing the locale, it was aoutomatically preset to Czech Republic, I didn't give them that info, so it looks like they do IP check.

For some reason, I believe that won't work. Otherwise every European gamer would just try to get an American account and buy all the games they wanted for a cheaper price.

If you get someone to set up an American Steam account, I think you will still need to have an American bank account too.

Yes, I can set up an account and buy stuff for you. My only requirement is that you send me the money first. Then I buy you stuff. Promise.

This is the core problem indeed.
