A digital distribution service owned by Valve Corporation. Originally created to distribute Valve's own games, Steam has since become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games.
Its good for me. I just logged on and I am thinking about downloading the Plants vs. Zombies for $2 just because I don't actually have it... played it a bunch through friends and family on their computers, but I feel like I need a copy of my own.
Weird, I still managed to launch the client and can still launch my games. Just can't use the store.
Fortunately, single player games will always work under offline mode ;)
do ubisoft games still work?
That's actually a very good question... but it's one I can't answer cause I don't own any, not on Steam. Hopefully someone else reads this and answers your question-- I'd like to know myself.

Brotherhood launches to the game menu, so it seems that they still work.
I still can't log into my account, but at least it's not a data breach. It's disconcerting that one blackout can cut access to Steam given the large amount of server farms Valve has.
