My PS3 just died. YLOD. Shit.
Super SFIV is on the immediate horizon and I'm completely fucked. Obviously I'm out of warranty and even if I decide to send it to Sony it will take an age to get it back via that route.
Other options are to either take it to a local repair shop or attempt to fix it myself. I'm pretty good with this sort of thing but as I don't have the tools necessary to repair it on hand, it would probably end up costing me just as much as taking it to get repaired.
But wait, what's that you say? My blog title says "PS3 is dead. Long live the Xbox." Oh yes, I knew I'd forgotten something!! A friend of mine has both a PS3 and 360 and has kindly agreed to lend me his 360 (He wouldn't let me have his PS3, I mean how selfish can you get)
So once I've collected it I will be playing on my (his) 360. Username will be mubress of course. I won't have time to get it until the weekend but come Saturday I will be ONLINE.
My only problem now is that I'll have to get SFIV for 360 ( I can't spend a whole week without SF!!) and then Super as well straight after. Fortunately SFIV is cheap now and Super is pretty cheap too so it's all good!
Crisis averted. Returning to Defcon 5.

well that does suck...i havent enough money for both versions and xbl sub...
spent £85 on a passport earlier today (85 fucking pound) which destroyed my plans of buying both versions and a stick
you ever gonna get your ps3 fixed or replaced?
Ah, that really sucks man. And what cruel timing.
Although we can now see how one of the best PS3 players fares against the 360 crowd.
Hey now! The spooky stream http://www.ustream.tv/channel/teamspooky has been running a 360 or two for four days straight, and still haven't had the RROD. I really do think MS finally fixed their hardware. It sure took them long enough, though." @ChristianCastillo said:

I have the same problem in fact I made a blog about it lol, but I am going to buy a new slim instead and get my bc ps3 fixed later

Plus even when they do break. You can just send it to MS and they will send you another 360 for free. So it's not as a big deal and everybody makes it out to be.
" RROD is overblown by the internet. "Yeah, RROD gets overblown because whenever someone's 360 breaks, they usually bitch about it on the internet. You don't see threads everyday saying "HEY MY XBOX STILL WORKS"
" @EnemaEms said:Just because yours and your friends boxes are fine (and even yours broke) doesn't mean that what, 25% of them have broken? Mine has been fine since I got it, but thats probably thanks to both less use than probably the average Call of Duty owner and the posibility that it might be of the Jasper chipset. Sure it might be a little overblown on a game site where everyone has their console on 24/7, but the problem of RROD is very real." @CL60 said:No I'm not. The newer(and by newer i mean 1-2 years) do not RROD that much regardless of what you and others may think.

You realize you didn't have to rebuy them right? Just send it to microsft and they will send you another one for free. When mine eventually broke it only took them 4-5 days to send me another one." @SpaceInsomniac said:

And do you have any proof of that? Fact is, more people say RROD is a problem than people who say it isn't." @Cube said:

But I do have a friend who had her 360 break. Why may you ask? She bought it from a friend of ours who smoked constantly around it and kept it on the carpet floor. When she got the 360, she set it vertically in a small space between a bunch of DVD racks. It's obvious why hers broke.
What I'm getting at is that, for me and all my experiences with the console, if you take care of it very well and allow lots of room and airflow then it won't RROD. I know you can tell me that because I have never experienced it that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But truth be told, me giving all my friends this advice, them following it and then not having any problems simply cannot be a coincidence. And then the one friend who I don't tell it to (partly because she doesn't play games and she's a total poser so I kind of wanted hers to die) hers does break.
Keep in mind that I'm speaking from my own experiences. You can have different experiences, I don't care, but my advice seems to be working for the 5 consoles that are following it.
I AM THE KING, LONG LIVE THE KING
@PresidentOfJellybeans: lol, why would you rebuy a console when you can get it repaired, most likely for free from Microsoft.
@CL60: I've repaired my 360 four times, it's really not overblown. Everyone I know has had Xbox failure as well. I love the 360 don't get me wrong, but it's made like ass. The UPS just came and delivered my Xbox 360 a couple seconds ago, and he said this: "You got it back, eh? Hopefully it works good for you this time. I can't tell you how many people have had to send these back, I've seen so many."
