This is NOT for hating on/demonizing new/F2P players. It's just for laughing at how the things many TF2 players take for granted are actually kinda confusing to a new player!

Saw this just a moment ago on the Giant Bomb/Whiskey Media server and had to take a screenshot.

Four medics on one Heavy, while the cart is being pushed behind them.
Four medics on one Heavy, while the cart is being pushed behind them.

    Or these gems:

Have you guys seen anything else?

Mostly for me it's been new players completely unable to figure out how spies work; letting me pass when I bump into them or not noticing when I change disguise or cloak.

I, along with many others, have started playing the game recently because of the hype, though we've had the orange box for years..
I was a noob for a few hours yesterday before i remembered how to play and had the game click with me, so i'm pretty sure people mistook me for a F2P player >_>

how do you tell who's F2P anyway ?

I'm loving the ability to just play in goofy ways. For example, Battle Medic is now a hilariously effective option on most maps, as is Battle Spy and Mackerel Scout.

I am actually liking the influx of new players. Sure they do goofy things, and are easy to beat (most of the time), but for the most part, are nice/fun people.  The only thing i dislike about all the new F2P players, is that some of the older players (by older, i mean players like myself who have 290 hours on the game) are being complete jerks. I have been taunted before in the game, but i have never been called a noob so hatefully before, for simply air blasting guys off a cliff.

TF2 is not like any other game, which is nice, but it also means that you can't expect anyone to know what the hell their doing much of the time. Add in the constant chaos of the average match and you have alot of very confused new players.

And im here because I bought TF2 years ago but haven't played it much because it doesn't make sense, im starting to get it though.

I've had TF2 since the Orange Box came out and I still don't understand it very well. Then again, I've only clocked a total of an hour gameplay since it was released four years ago. I should really get into it while it's 'fresh' again.

same, I got 15 backstabs on KOTH_Harvest in one life, because you can just keep going up the stairs, going out the window, landing near their spawn, backstab a few, see step 1 etc.

Playing against bad scouts and soldiers is ridiculously easy. I've seen a lot of questionable engie placements but mostly I end up ragequitting every time half my team goes spy. I saw one guy type "how do i shot gun"  in chat. He quickly corrected himself but that still kind of a silly thing to ask.

As an engineer, I've seen so many pathetic engi mistakes. Building turrets outside of the initial spawn is my favourite (and, like, permanently building them there). Sigh.

In about 75% of the games I've played about one third of my team consists of engineers, about a third of spies and/or snipers and the rest of the more beefy classes.

Also the engineers are goddamn terrible, building turrents first just outside of the initial spawns and forgetting about teleporters.

I've been playing the game since the F2P patch but I at least try to take care of the objectives (and usually have one of the top scores).

It does make sense and if you struggle to understand what is going on then you should probably stick to Halo.

Not even trying to be a dick but seriously? TF2 is not hard to understand at all. Lots of shit goes on, people get stabbed, rockets go everywhere but it's still easy to figure out what your objectives are.

Edit: Well even if you are only 30 hours in I still don't see the confusion. Maybe I just grasp things fast. As soon as I started playing it was "Oh so you capture these in order" and then when the payload game type came out it was "Oh so you push the cart to each point then the stage changes"

The only part of the game I can see being a bit confusing at first is how to use the Spy cloak/disguises properly and building shit as a Engineer.

It's... Pretty straightforward, actually. But, I suppose everyone is different; perhaps TF2 is just the kind of game that has a completely different wavelength than yours.

You definitely can, it's just difficult and causes problems. It's entirely possible he was also talking about Shift+Tab for bringing up Steam messaging as well.

Also the alt tabbing message has no bearing on the video or what happens so....

This is the reason I'm scared to go play that game now.

I never played it before, I just started getting PC games and I though why not get TF2 now that it's free.

Seems like I'm just going to be patronized by more "veteran" players.

@Strife777: You really don't get this type of stuff in-game. Honestly, I think going F2P has been the best thing to happen to TF2 in a while. The influx of new blood has really cut down on idling and boosting. People are actually playing the game for a change.

I've been considering downloading TF2 but I seriously don't want to be a part of a game where I'm treated like shit just because I didn't play it when it was paid for. It's a dumb (and by dumb I mean in the "wacky" sense) FPS with a lot of classes working together, and it's meant to be fun. I can't stand that people try and treat it like it's some deep and serious intellectual experience or something. I'm just not interested in that sort of treatment.

You'll only find it on forums. I've yet to be in a game where anyone has made any derisive comments.

You'll be accepted in servers. Trust me, just because people are going to have a playful laugh to themselves when an obviously new player runs the wrong way, builds a sentry in the worst possible position, or stops to disguise or uncloak for reasons unknown to any, doesn't mean the entire server will gang up on you.

Large groups of Sniper/Spys is the biggest complaint i've had. Today on offense I had 5 Snipers 3 spys 2 Scouts and me as Solider.

Well the first class i tried when i installed TF2 was spy, needless to say, fail.
But I've got the hang of all the classes in 2 days of playing...except sniper, fuck that guy, he's useless and weak.
Other than that i really don't remember any mistakes worth mentioning.

You'll only find it on forums. I've yet to be in a game where anyone has made any derisive comments.
