You clearly have not played the game. They were very much planning a sequel. It is very obvious from the ending.

Oh I played it, back when it came out. Its not a memorable game to me. I just remember that I didn't really care for it. Don't remember a damn thing about the story.

Clearly having an unique storydriven game wasnt a success for them so if there will ever be a sequel it will be a completly different game for good or for worse.

They should do it like EDF and jump ahead 8 years for the sequel; The Order: 1894 (though that might be a bit confusing to some).

I am definitely not in the majority, but I really liked The Order for what it was. In my opinion not every game needs to be a totally tight and competent action shooter set in a non-linear world, so I enjoyed the different game Ready at Dawn made compared to the rest of the pack. I would be happy to play a sequel that expanded upon what the original did, but it'll never happen. As @rethla mentioned, even if this game got a sequel it would not even slightly resemble the structure of the first game. I think that's a shame.

I see a different approach. The throughline isn't 'The Order,' its '1886.' It'll be a series of games about various ongoings in the year 1886; next up, The Haymarket Riots: 1886.

Has this actually been cancelled? I know it was never officially announced, but is this something we have solid information on?

1886 is a subtitle itself. So the sequel would be The Order II: Back In Action or whatever.

It'll be a reboot called

The The Order: Homecoming.

I should probably finish the game, your write-up made me want to pick it back up. I'm be surprised if they made another, but I'd guess it'll be a spiritual successor instead of a sequel. The Order: Origins/Homecoming/Revolution/Revelations/2077. Actually if they made a future cyberpunk sequel I'd buy it no questions asked.

I have no specific knowledge. I'm just assuming that it won't be getting a sequel since it was poorly received but, you know, Knack II is coming so who knows.

You guys, what if Knack II is actually a canonical sequel to The Order?

Hey, I wouldn't mind a sequel. The biggest issue with the first was that it took too much control away from the player, and was too linear. Otherwise, I liked it. With games like Horizon, being a freaking open world game! And Uncharted 4, still pretty open in comparison to The Order, I believe they could improve and make a pretty great game with a sequel. Horizon and Uncharted 4 are about as good as The Order visually, maybe better? So, I think they have room to improve. The gameplay was solid, I enjoyed it when it let me play, and the sound design and visuals were top-notch as well as the setting being very good. I liked the story enough to see what's next. Also, this goes for Ryse too, which is basically the Xbox One version of The Order. More variety, more open environments, and especially in The Order's case, less control taken away from the player.

I believe this may have been the last known thing about talk of a sequel.
