watched thursday night throw down and I was almost laughing at how bad brad seemed to be at a game he loves. I've noticed recently that he seems to be getting worse at games. Star wars kinect may suck, but watching brad play was even worse. I guess to be far if I aired my gameplay and tried to talk over it at the same time I might fuck up alot too.
Trials Evolution
Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Apr 18, 2012
The follow up to the best-selling hit Trials HD, Trials Evolution takes motorcycle platforming to a whole new level of ridiculousness.
when did brad get so bad at games??
Make a video in a hot studio with hot lights in your face that obscure the TV you're trying to play your game on. Then realize that there are 5000+ people watching you. Then realize that a solid chunk of them are critiquing your performance knowing they'll never have to step up themselves. Add to that the fact that you're expected to make meaningful conversation while doing it. Mix in a little bit of the fact that screens in your periphery are showing you all the crazy crap Vinny is doing to the stream. To top it all off Jeff is making final boss dying faces right beside you.
Do all of that and we'll see how good you are at X videogame.
It would seem intuitive that someone who plays games for a living would be good at them. Problem is as a game reviewer you don't get to spend much time with one game learning the ins and outs, mastering every bit of physics involved in the game play. Jeff's mentioned it a couple times. He's okay at fighting games, but once the game opens up to more than just reviewers he's left behind in the dust - turns out people who spend most of their free time on one game/genre are good at it.
Add to that the pressure of all these people watching, given that situation I'd say he's better than you can expect. I thought he had a good showing part way through the TNT. I was pretty proud. But please, let's stop this whole thing with "Bradding" and dying being the same thing.
I doubt he's actually bad at games. I tend to struggle to perform if I feel like I'm being scrutinized. Also if I'm talking to someone in the same room as me I'm in autopilot, which means I'm terrible. That's probably all it is =]
Anyone saying any of the GB guys suck at games should try playing with 2-3 people around them constantly talking to them, while seeing Vinny screw around with the stream and knowing you have thousands of people watching you.
And regarding this specific TNT, Brad actually won a fair number of races in the second half, which is better than the crew's average while playing live with the audience.
- A notoriously hard game.
- Two other people, at one point three, trying to talk to you.
- A couple thousand people watching and critiquing your every imperfect move.
- And having only played it for a few days, and then not with the purpose of getting great at the game.
...yeah, all things considered, I think he did pretty good. Even talking to one other person while playing games is difficult, so I can easily see how someone could really mess up when trying to talk to two people in a manner that a few thousand others will know and be able to relate to and understand is especially difficult.

Btw, did he really leave Giant Bomb for IGN, because ppl think he sucks at games?!
No.

Didn't he win two tournements? I thought that was pretty good. Also theres no sense in analysing this, just laugh when he bungles but know he's probably better when playing alone.
Brad is god tier at Quake. I can't remember what other games he is insanely good at, except Cards Against Humanity. Never heard anything about tournaments though, so no idea.
And I don't think some people are in on the joke here. We're not getting angry at the guy when we say he pulled a Brad, or even insulting his skills.
@Catarrhal: Wow I guess in the heart of Brad there lives an innocent preteen girl dreaming of being a pop star.
All joking aside Brad, like every other gamer whose ever been recorded playing a game will have these "oops" moments. I bet he's a pretty good gamer when he gets the chance to go knees deep.
Come on, dude, he is fine at games. It's not their job to be good at games anyway. I don't expect them to be with the amount of games they have to play instead of focussing on getting really good at one.

I watched that TNT and he seemed to do fine. He came in first place quite a bit.
Exactly. Seems like OP wants him to be running the hardest courses with 0 faults or something. He did perfectly fine.
Agreed. The OP is climaxing over the wrong TNT. Brad is not cheap, and he will make you wait for those special fail moments. He had his ups and downs with this particular TNT/QL/Breaking Brad, but I thought he did pretty darn well.
Yeah, I don't even see how you could call Thursday pulling a Brad. Once he got back on the bike he'd practiced with most he did as well or better than most of the people he was playing against.
Given the normal playing in front of others while talking circumstances, and that he was playing a twitchy, fidgety, extremely difficult game that normally requires lots of concentration, I'd say he did well. Expecting flawless runs is a little ridiculous.

@believer258: Lol, ok.
That was probably an inside joke, and i've only been here for a few months.
Pretty much. 'Brad's leaving' is a common joke on the forums :)
To be fair. Most errors Brad's doing in front of the camera originates from him not thinking over the problem. When most of us play games that's pretty common. How do I get more speed? Why am I taking so much damage? How is everyone else doing better?
These are all great questions that could be easily processed WHEN YOU'RE NOT BEING WATCHED BY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE.
Eh. The physics engine of the game is so inconsistent at times it's a wonder a person can perform at a high level without trying host an Internet stream. But once you add that wrinkle in, I don't suppose it's particularly easy to show off.
You guys are really taking this joke a long way. It's getting to the point where Brad isn't that bad at video games and people are still going "LOL MOAR LIEK BAD SHOEMAKER AMIRITE GUYS AMIRITE".
Anime isn't for jerks, Brad isn't bad at video games.
Cool Baby is pretty damn cool, however.

You basically answered your own question.
What we need to do now is set up capture equipment to his home consoles to see if stress of being recorded is the factor, that or stop caring about how someone plays games.
It's fucking Trials, dude. It's hard to get the controls down in that game. Cut him some fucking slack.
