A form of racing designed to test the car and driver's skill and endurance. It evolved into closed circuit racing like modern Formula 1 and MotoGP. Even the Mario Kart series has it.
Realism is where a game attempts to accurately mimic real life through gameplay mechanics and visuals. For example, realistic shooters, such as Operation Flashpoint, Full Spectrum Warrior, or Brothers in Arms, typically focus upon squad tactics, i.e. suppressive fire and flanking.
Who needs 2D when we've got 3D? 3D, or 3 dimensions, is what we're used to seeing in almost every game these days, letting us do all sorts of awesome stuff like run in circles!

A heads-up display is a graphical overlay of vital information used in most modern games.
Driving lines are lines that appear on the road in some racing games. Generally, their colour indicates at what speed you should be driving, and their location indicates an ideal route.
The opposite of open-ended gameplay, linear gameplay uses scripted events, Quick time events, cut scenes, and a restricted path to tell a story exactly how the writer intends, and control elements of the action.
Achievements are extra challenges added into video games that sometimes carry a point value or unlock bonus material, and are sometimes solely for bragging rights.
Endurance racing is racing a track for very long periods of time. An example of endurance racing in video games would be the 24 hour Le Mans in GRID.
Running at 60 FPS is standard for arcade & PC games, but hardware restrictions of consoles often force developers to aim for lower framerates in order to preserve visual detail or allow greater scale. 3D console games hitting 60 FPS are thus uncommon, though the trend of re-releasing games on newer hardware has technically resulted in more 3D console games hitting 60 FPS.
