Alternate Historical Nazis Return in Wolfenstein: The New Order

Not a single one of those mechs has Hitler's head attached to it. I don't know how to feel about that.

I haven't played a Wolfenstein game since Wolfenstein 3D, but I like this trailer's style. The machining looked like pretty standard teaser fare, but that white and red end sheet...

EDIT: And who would have expected "All Along the Watchtower" in a mystical/sci-fi WWII shooter?

Something tells me that the Jimi Hendrix estate [lawyers] probably had a very confused half second upon receiving a request from Bethesda to license All Along The Watchtower for a game called Wolfenstein: The New Order.

I played the hell out of return to castle wolfenstein on regular xbox but I didn't have much interest in the last one... Hopefully this one will change that =D.

Not sure If I like the idea of being in the future but at the same time I don't know where you go from the last game...

Never been huge on Wolfenstein but the trailer is excellent and the MachineGames crew apparently has Escape from Butcher Bay and The Darkness as their pedigree. Two amazing games, I believe. I'll keep an eye out for this one.

What's the point in calling this Wolfenstein? Except you know, money.

RtCW was a great game.

Can't start the show with a show-stopper, Alex. Personally, I can't wait to see more of the giant-robot-nazi dog.

It doesn't take place in the future, it takes place in 1960. It's an alternate history where, presumably, the Nazis won World War II. Or they've manipulated the timeline in some way to bring about their domination over the world. The only reason I'm entertaining the latter notion is because BJ says "they're rewriting history" in the trailer, and the line about him being gone "for a long time" suggests that maybe the game starts out in the 1940's and time-wimey shit is involved.

Or it was just poetic license by the monologue's writer. Who knows at this point.

I want the multiplayer to be Enemy Territory multiplayer. That's all I want. I want a refined version of that game without cheaters up the ass.

It should be noted that today is the 68th anniversary of Victory in Europe (V-E) Day. Clever timing for the release of the trailer. Germany's unconditional surrender was signed May 7th 1945 and ratified on May 8th.

I'm surprised no one has taken the alternate history of Robert Harris' Fatherland, and turned it into a game by now. The premise of the book seems like a great set up for a game.

Having said that, not complaining about mecha-Nazis.

Surprised how much I enjoyed a Wolfenstein trailer. Usually a line like "they forgot about me" would be real corny but those childhood memories in me got a rise out of it.

This is being made by a bunch of ex Starbreeze guys, mostly dudes that made the Riddick games and The Darkness, so I have high hopes for this.

Having it break into All Along the watchtower was disconcerting and a mild disconnect, because I was rather liking the organ quasi intro. Not that I will mind listening to Jimi's version a couple of thousand times more in my life. Neil Young also did it pretty well in the movie tribute to Bob Dylan.

I rather like where this is going. To give Wolfenstein new life, hop aboard the many/alternate worlds train.. And very nice stylized Nazi war robots. Like others, I thought well of return to Castle Wolfenstein. Almost eerie at times with good Nazi science/weird occult balance.

The Hendrix and the style of the title card at the end give a bit of an almost... Tarantino grindhousey vibe, I guess? Is that just me? The thought of a Wolf game done in that sort of style would be something I'd check out.

Is BJ Blazkowicz still in Wolfenstein games? I've got the most recent one on Steam, but haven't got around to playing it yet. The narrators lines are certainly more meaningful with Blazkowicz in mind.

My oh my, that end title sheet. If that is at all indicative of the production quality that will go into the game proper, I'm in. Although it would take hell and high water to prevent me from playing a Wolfenstein game built by the folks that worked on Butcher bay.

I'm Impressed.

I hope that the Nazi's winning the war is tied back to BJ Blazkowicz making a martyr out of Hitler instead of Hitler committing suicide.

I really like the style of this ... that final red splash screen has some very nice grapgic design proportions..... that said... It seems like a completely schitzofrenic take on the subject matter (and even a bit more mainstream?).... Cyborg nazi mech alternate history? Where is the thule society cult side of wolfenstein?? lthough.. if it had all that.. it would only be missing elf ninja pirate dragon aliens to complete all fiction ever.
