I bought an Xbox because of Odd World. Hopefully this does well enough to trigger a new project in this universe. I'm not especially interested in playing this again, but I'll probably buy it just to support the studio.

I just remember this game looking amazing, but i never got around to actually playing it.

I've played Oddyssee and Exoddus through so many times... Amazing games. I feel like this is my Shadow of the Colossus.

I miss pre-rendered backgrounds in games.

The originals were some good puzzle-platforming for the time. I'm all set to go back to it.

These games really defined my childhood, so super stoked to see a HD overhaul. I hope they make a new game in the Oddworld universe too

I really love Oddysee and Exodus but this I'm a bit catious about this. Not sure how the removal of seperating screens will change the puzzles and the animations appear much slower than in the original game.

Otherwise they completely nailed the look so hopefully the rest is just a matter of polish.

Weird how Abe's Exoddus and Stranger's Wrath are both considered "side projects" and are way better than the Oddysee games. I remember getting this and it had such a bunk, broken save system that I took it right back to the store. Exoddus was incredible though. One of my favorite PlayStation-era games.

Judging by the new voice samples and overall speed in the trailer, I'd say the original PC-version is not only "still good enough", but actually superior to New 'n' Tasty.

Just make a sequel to Abe's Exoddus already. A proper one, no 3D bullshit.

Cannot wait for this! Hopefully it gets them to do a remake of Exoddus as well or rather a full on 2Dsequel to the older games.

I am going to buy this, just saying. I have been in love with Oddworld since childhood.

Doesn't look special to me. I don't have the nostalgia that you guys must have. I have and like the HD version of Stranger's Wrath on my Vita though. This just looks like a platformer.

This looks worse than the original, 3d often doesn't improve the look of a game yet! Even with a great 3d team like Blizzard with Diablo 3. Looks great, but diablo 2 looks better, this has a similar problem.

I'm guessing they've remade the cut scene videos.

Well, this just elicited a crazy flashback.

It's the puzzle mechanics that really make it, and it's not just buttons or switches that you manipulate but the interplay between different creature AI as well, even if the AI by themselves are straightforward and predictable. It also has a pretty fun stealth element, as well as the mostly optional objective of saving every Mudokon, which is a much greater challenge than just getting through a level. The unique world is also one of the series main appeals.

Aside from the low resolution of it and the weird, kinda lame, humor, Abe's Exoddus at least holds up as well as most modern games with its quicksave system and well integrated tutorials. I would also say that it holds up a lot better, mechanics-wise, than the games that inspired it (Flashback, Prince of Persia, Out of This World).

I hope Oddworld Inhabitants make a new Oddworld game after this and it centers around Abe again with this side scrolling puzzle solving game play.

Essentially, everything is rendered instead of relying on video. The question that is begged to be answered, however, is it worth it?

Seeing the game in action, I can't spot too many improvements over the original, but if it introduced a couple more people to the game, why not.

Indeed, I used to think the same with Starcraft. "The style was perfect, just do another expansion using that!" I said that for 10 years. Then when 2 came out I popped in the original and hot damn... rose colored glasses.

As for Abe, the original has charm and looked great for the PS1. Still enjoyed the look a few short years ago. But after seeing it on Unprofessional Friday, this looks nicer, the audio is cleaned up, and the SCREEN SCROLLS!
