Can't wait. The first is still one of my favorite games of all time.

@relkin: Agreed. I just hope they don't go in too dark of a cyberpunk direction and maintain the fresh, clear atmosphere of the original.

Too much combat in the trailer, that's the worst part of Mirror's Edge

@oky: Don't be surprised if they do. 'The City' was "dirty and dangerous" prior to the first game.

Loved the first and genuinely looking forward to the release of this game. Easily the best thing shown at the EA press conference.

Wanted to like the original more than I did, thought it was pretty flawed. Still, some people seemed to genuinely enjoy it, so maybe it'd be fine if this game ended up being more for those people than for me. Guess we'll see.

I'm one of them. Didn't think that game was flawed at all to be honest. It's still one of my favorite games of all time. I can definitely understand the criticism the game has received, but it is a matter of perspective I think. Some of the criticism was: you are forced into combat situations way too often. But, most of them are entirely avoidable. I can really only remember two instances where combat was mandatory.

In addition, the 'first person platforming is impossible because you can't see your feet' argument many have made is just insane. Use the right thumbstick, you see your feet. Problem solved. I'd like to believe I don't have a superiority complex going on, but am I really one of the few people that knows how to control a game? You look up and down while moving, why is it so incomprehensible to do the same thing while jumping and airborne? In addition, needing to see your feet to know where you land doesn't make sense to me to begin with. I rarely did it in that game (or real life for that matter) and could still accurately predict where I'd land.

@zevvion: From the little that's actually shown in the trailer and other gameplay shown earlier it looks pretty similar playing to the first game. I'm willing to give it another go and see whether that style has grown on me or not since the original. Even trying to get back into the original a couple of years since finishing it has been tough for me though.

Right there with you. It's also one of my favorite games of all time and a flawless goddamn masterpiece imo. Don't understand why so many people didn't like it, and I especially don't understand even minor whining about the controls, which were perfect for me from the start. I never once felt like I was fumbling with them or anything like that.

I'm not sure how I feel about those environments. They seem much more cluttered compared to how incredibly slickly designed the first game was, but we haven't seen enough to judge yet. Hopefully we see some real gameplay soon.

Hey, it's Morgan Freeman. Right?

Right?

Ha ha! That was exactly the same thing that I thought. Older black sage-like character? Morgan Freeman.

That's the most beautiful thing I've seen so far from E3. Sent shivers through me. I can't wait.
